MSIA has no formal membership, dues, rules, or regulations and was founded on a few simple, yet profound, principles:

- God loves all of Its creation.
- Not one Soul will be lost.
MSIA's guidelines are clear and direct:
- Take care of yourself so you can help take
care of others.
- Don't hurt yourself and don't hurt others.
- Use everything for your upliftment, learning, and growth.
The real "movement of spiritual inner awareness" takes place within each person. The organization exists only to support people in expanding their awareness of the Soul and of God.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, MSIA is a non-denominational, ecumenical church that serves thousands of students on six continents. Most people find that study in MSIA is compatible with other religious faiths and beliefs. Those who participate with MSIA come from all walks of life, age groups, and backgrounds.
