Update on IIWP Peace Events for the International Day of Peace 2013

Communities around the world hosted 20 IIWP peace events to celebrate this year’s International Day of Peace. The Day of Peace itself is on September 21st of each year, designated by the UN in 1982 to support individuals, communities, & organizations in promoting peace.

Eleven countries were represented, including Argentina, Australia, Colombia, England, France, Ghana, Nigeria, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela. In the United States, peacemakers offered events in eight states: Alabama, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

Communities held activities as simple as a group coming together to plant Light columns in Australia, Switzerland, and Seattle WA to planting a tree for peace in Caracas Venezuela.

Also, a number of communities offered IIWP’s Peacemaker Meeting and Finding Peace in Today’s World workshops. This includes three events in Africa with our Beloved IIWP Peacemaker Prince Iwuoha!

I have been so blessed to be a part of this project over the years, it touches me to see the many ways people walk in peace.

Here are some comments and pictures from peacemakers about their events. Enjoy!

Love and Light,
Debbie

HIGHLIGHTS FROM COMMUNITIES ON THEIR PEACE EVENTS

From Veronique Sandoz, PLANTING LIGHT COLUMNS
We were four. We were all surprised by the powerful energy present as we were moving from spot to spot in Geneva. And also by the creative inspiration which was downloaded through each blessing said by each of us.
We realized even deeper that we are creators and decided to do it more often walking like this in the city.
We were rejoiced to know that many on this planet were participating!!! Blessings of Love Light and Sound to all and All, etc…

Love, Véronique Anne, Geneva, Switzerland

#1 – FINDING PEACE IN TODAY’S WORLD – PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA
Dearest Debbie.
Thank God! The (IIWP) class, ‘Finding Peace in Today’s World’ held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria on Saturday 21st September (which of course is a peace day) was a great success. The Traveler’s student gathered on the beautiful day to celebrate, share their love and light on the UN programmed day of peace via the peace class, the joy! joy!! radiance from the faces of the participants was a clear manifestation of inner peace awakened by the IIWP class.
The opportunity of holding this class in Nigeria and indeed Africa is wonderful and a great gift of love, peace from the Travelers to humanity as those who embrace the simple and yet profound message from this simple class will never lack peace. The golden keys presented by the Travelers via this class will always remain indelible in the hearts of IIWP class participants.
It’s a generational, processing and progressive peace seed of all times, the choice of peace has always been the choice of the saints and will always be the way out and the way forward for all mankind and we pledge to flow in that line.

#2 – PEACEMAKER MEETING – ABUJA, NIGERIA
Dear Debbie,
Thank God, the Abuja Peacemaker Meeting held on the 29th September 2013 was a great success. The participants were so happy for the Approval and inclusion of Abuja Peace-Maker Meeting on MSIA’s program on the eve of Nigeria Independence Celebration by the Travelers.
The Uniqueness of the Peacemaker Meeting cannot be overemphasized as it has the capability of turning the participants to full blown peace-maker’s and as well turns the environment of the event into a peaceful domain with its high peaceful vibratory frequencies that flows from the Travelers via the class.
We appreciate, and we are so happy for the gift of love. We want to use this opportunity to thank all those who have made it possible for us to enjoy this class. LL

From Anne Naylor, FRANCE:
SUNRISE PEACE CHANT

We were 3, all old timer chanters.
The chant was very gentle and yet powerful. Bright sunshine greeted us as we chanted. Breakfast was yummy. Shone brought croissants etc, and Annie brought strawberries and raspberries. There was a great peace with us.
I learned that it is always sharing peace, plus I liked that we hold it on 9/11 – a great day to focus on peace.
The event came together at the last moment as I was about to go away and was perfect.

PEACEMAKER MEETING

Beloved Debbie:
I’m happy to bring to you some good news about our meeting for the International Day for Peace.
The day was beautiful, and people who came to the meeting were open, and every one of them shared in such a profound way… I was amazed with the spirit present… everything came in a divine way.
So thanks for all the light, because I really felt that the way was prepared.
I’m sending to you the assistance form, and some pictures for you to enjoy. (We did part of the Meeting around the Peace Tree we planted in June!)
Much love and joy!!!

From Belinda Back, BRISBANE AUSTRALIA:
PLANTING LIGHT COLUMNS

Hi Debbie,
We only had three people but it was great fun and so filled with Spirit. I was initially disappointed more didn’t join us but then I know that it is all perfect and there is purpose in whatever is going on.
We started at the Princess Alexander hospital to do a Light column outside the Mental Health building.
After the hospital we went to Southbank on the west side of the Brisbane river. It is a beautiful public area with a theatrical venue, restaurants, cafes, rainforest and lots of green and a man-made beach where people from all walks of life gather especially on the weekend. And as the Brisbane festival was on more people than usual because of all the activities, which is why we chose to go there.
A lot of people were milling in and around the Pagoda when we arrived there. Inside we called in the Light and chanted Ani Hus and then did ses for maybe 5 to 10 minutes. The energy was beautiful and it was extraordinary how peace descended on the temple and surrounds – people, including kids just quieted.
We planted a couple of other Light columns in the area but they were the main events.
Holding the Light column day was so grace-filled for me. The loving inside and out so palpable I don’t think anything could have fazed me that day. That the Light descends in support when you put your hand up to serve, I have no doubt. What did I learn? That serving is truly a gift always.
This year I hesitated doing the Light columns when you originally asked, next time, if no other event is organised I will put my hand up straight away.
Much love and Light

Belinda

From Vania Grimalt, CARACAS VENEZUELA:
PLANTING A TREE FOR PEACE

September 1, the beginning of a new month, the month dedicated to peace by the United Nations. For me Peace is always a reason to celebrate!
The Venezuela IIWP Community planted a tree for Peace in Caracas, to honor this day. We started around 5pm, about 20 people came to participate, someone even brought Cupcakes, and also two more trees!! So there were three trees to plant to honor Peace.
People passed by where we were planting the trees and wondered what we were doing, we invited them to find peace within themselves and spread through the world, because “Peace is Present”. (You could read this on the stone that we had.) We delivered information about IIWP to all who wondered.
When we finish selecting the right spot for the first tree and planting it, we celebrated eating cup cakes :), and we took a group photo with the first tree. Then the second was a tree of lemons, to give lemons to make Peaceful lemonade for life. 🙂 This was brought from Maturin, an inland city in the country.
At the end, after we planted the third one, we surrounded them in a circle of blessings. Each person gave from their heart a quality of peace as a blessing for the trees and to go through their roots to the center of Mother earth and to their leaves windswept scatter those qualities on the earth. Then we all gathered around the last tree for a group photo, everyone laughed, we had lots of fun and enjoyed a day full of Peace.

From Alethea Lamb, LOS ANGELES, CA:
PEACEMAKER MEETING

It went really well :-). We had a total of 12 participants, and 8 of them were new!! 6 participants were there from the beginning, and then 6 more joined after the meeting started.
Vania Grimalt was totally amazing as a facilitator! And Joseph Casan and Michea Kaye offered some back up support with set up. From what I heard, the participants really loved it, and there were several people who stayed afterwards for I’d say about an hour chatting with each other in the dining room at Prana.
Thank you again to Vania for her beautiful service.

From Lin Mogitz, BRANCHBURG, NEW JERSEY:
PEACEMAKER MEETING

Hi, Debbie,
Our “event” was simply our Peacemaker Meeting, and it was lovely, as usual. 🙂
Loving, Light, hugs and peace,

Lin

From Juliana Pombo and Diego Forero, CALI, COLOMBIA:
THE PEACE IN OUR HEARTS

The Peace event here in Cali was beautiful!! Full of Peace and Light.
We did not have a lot of people present but it was a perfect family-like gathering with 7 people.
I could not take pictures (even though I tried) because Diego and I were standing talking and participating in the activities so I didn´t find the moment.
Big hug from Diego and I.

From Robert McCreight, AUSTIN, TEXAS:
SUNRISE CHANTING AND PRAYERS FOR PEACE

Lois Stuart and I were there at sunrise for the Austin event at Barton Springs Pool.
There were also others there nearby who were swimming that morning.
At the event we read some quotes from J-R’s book, “Loving Each Day for Peacemakers.” One quote in particular resonated with me and I paraphrase it: Peace is the cessation of againstness.
To me Barton Springs Pool is Austin’s version of the Garden of Eden.
On that Saturday morning, I experience myself moving so gracefully into a deeper level of accepting what is: letting go the judgments of the number who attended; letting go the judgments of the murky conditions of the water due to heavy rains the previous day; and letting go of the judgments regarding the overcast skies.
In all what seemed to be imperfect conditions, my letting go the judgments and accepting what is, I discovered signs of God’s beauty. I consciously chose peace.
It was so clear from the minute I received the invitation that I was being called to spearhead an Austin event and what that event was to be.
Through the process, I simply followed Spirit’s guidance, accepting what is and, in that acceptance, discovering within, regardless of the outer, the Peace of God.
Thanks for your invitation, Debbie!
God bless you!
Love & Light

From Sina Skates, BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA:
PEACEMAKER MEETING:

Hi Debbie,
As you may remember I traveled to Boston to visit my 97 year old Grandmother and was not able to host the Peacemaker Meeting at my house. I did however talk to her about the Peacemaker Meeting, the Peace Prayer and the four key IIWP concepts of peace. It was very, very sweet. She did not really have the energy for a whole “meeting” but I was definitely present in the peace with her and she loved the key concept that “peace is a choice”. She said, “I’ve never heard that before, but you’re right. It is a choice.”

From Rebecca Bloomfield, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS:
PEACEMAKER MEETING:

There is an agreement of gratitude among attendees. They are grateful they can bundle up all the upset that is broadcast in the world and that they create for themselves, and that they have a place to “unload” it. They report that through the process of the meeting they feel unburdened, peaceful, and able to hold a space of peace in the world. It is joyous.
