Transcribing in English

  • Type out a word-for-word transcript of J-R and John Morton seminars, Q&A’s, etc. You do not have to be a fast or professional typist to be successful and make a useful contribution. Skills needed: in addition to the Basic skills listed above, we need you to be (1) Physically able to type in such a way that the project keeps moving forward. Speed is NOT a requirement. (2) Good enough English for a “first draft” level of accuracy.

Checking transcript accuracy in English

  • Read J-R and John Morton transcripts that others have typed. You listen along to the recording and compare the recording with the typing. As you go along, you correct anything needed so that you end up with an accurate, word-for-word transcript. The corrections may be typos, wrong words, missing words, words that are not on the recording, etc. Skills needed: in addition to the Basic skills listed above, we need you to have (1) Excellent English (2) good vision (3) Able to stay alert and awake throughout a complete J-R or John Morton recording.

Proofreading J-R and JM articles

  • The J-R Library volunteers in the office have been scanning the old MSIA publications going back to the 1960’s. We’ve been digitally converting the J-R and John Morton articles from PDF images to Word docs. We need volunteers to carefully proofread each article for conversion errors (typos), and correct it to match the PDF. Skills needed: in addition to the Basic skills listed above, we need you to have (1) Excellent English (2) Able to stay alert and awake while reading J-R and John Morton authored articles (3) Ability to make simple corrections to a Word doc.

Proofreading J-R books in Spanish

  • The J-R Library volunteers in the office have been scanning Spanish J-R books to PDF and converting them to Word docs. We need volunteers to carefully proofread each converted text for conversion errors (typos), and correct it to match the PDF. Skills needed: in addition to the Basic skills listed above, we need you to have (1) Excellent written Spanish (2) Good enough conversational Spanish to communicate effectively with the Library manager, who is English speaking (3) Able to stay alert and awake while reading J-R books (3) Ability to make simple corrections to a Word doc.
