In this seminar, John-Roger continues the theme of practical spirituality, first addressing the difficulties of loss and divorce, then moving on to addictive behaviors such as substance abuse. What he has to tell us is fascinating.

Regarding alcoholism, J-R tells the story of someone who gets to an inner place telling him, ‘I’m not going to do this anymore,’ then calling for help when he weakens. “But then another level institutes itself and this is the most vicious one because he may say, ‘I wonder what one drink would taste like.’ Now really, what he should be saying is “Where on earth is that question coming from that’s making me come into this idea again?”

J-R continues, “Each individual cell exercises a level of consciousness. It takes tremendous reorientation down to the very basic cell structure of the body for a person to change addictive patterns. It takes between seven and eleven years to re-educate cell desire patterns.” Seven to eleven years! To change our habits! We’re lost!

But there is hope and the spiritual support that is available to us, of course. In this terrific seminar, J-R challenges us to acknowledge the patterns each of us would like to change. Then he tells us the steps we need to take to change behaviors that don’t work for us into a lifetime of behaviors that do.

God Bless You!
