John-Roger begins his seminar in this way, “When we’re in a group like this there’s a prime thing that takes place called Satsang. True Satsang is just truth –the inner, subjective truth that each person holds as their own sacred domain and won’t let anyone else violate.”
J-R’s seminar offers a delicate balance between what it is to be human with our bodies, emotions and brains, and what it is to inhabit that place of inner truth where who we are cannot be threatened or controlled. J-R even models for us those human responses to the controllers in our midst, and even gives us the wording to use in those times when we don’t want to do what someone is asking of us!
“If we can get the mind, the emotions, and the body to cease plaguing us,” J-R says, “then there is reserved for all of us a very special place in Satsang, and that is the Divine Absolute, wherein we may be aware that the legs are tired and the emotions are upset and the mind is off daydreaming and in spite of all that, we’re still going to awaken into a greater and greater consciousness. Truly, when you love yourself and you love your neighbor, then you have indeed manifested Satsang.”
