This John-Roger seminar is for all of us who have habits…well, let’s call them compulsions.
That would probably be everybody on the planet. J-R says, “We find ourselves in the pattern
of stuffing — like compulsive eating, for instance. When we realize this compulsion we judge
ourselves mentally and emotionally and we deplete our energy. The body feels weary and we
know we need more energy, so, more food. We go through the process again and again. Then
we say, ‘I don’t understand.’ I say it is not a process of understanding; it’s a mechanical
process: compulsion to food to mouth.”

J-R teaches practical spirituality and this seminar is a demonstration of the practical nature
of Spirit’s teachings. J-R discusses several forms of compulsion, and then he makes clear
how we can fix any compulsions we might have.

Well, how do we know where to start? J-R says, “Observe what you’re doing. I didn’t say
understand what you’re doing. I said observe what you’re doing. A person who’s in compulsion
needs a lot of love because that compulsion says, ‘I’m not getting the love to fulfill me — to
full-fill me or to fill me full so that I don’t have to enter into the senses of the body to attempt
to establish who I am.’ People say, ‘I want to be responsible for my own problems. I don’t want
the Light to fix them. I tell them, ‘Well, in all of your intellectualizing, you have proved yourself
very un-intelligent, because you separated the process and that’s not how it works. We are
the process.’ ”
