This interesting John-Roger seminar is a call to each of us to examine the comfort zones of our life and come into a bit more discipline with ourselves….that is, if we’re interested at all in preparing ourselves for that great initiation of death…or even preparing ourselves better to serve ourselves and others.

J-R introduces the idea of ruthlessness in life. He says, “It’s this way. I’m going to first know how to function independently from you in such a way that I will not hurt me. Then, it follows that if I do not hurt me, I won’t have hurt within me for you. I will only have the same consideration that I give to myself. The Lord set this up, when He said, ‘When you’ve done it to the least one of these, you’ve done it unto me.’ Therefore, if you do love the Lord, and you are going to be one who follows, be a messenger of, and work in that energy, then it’s really best to live that way as closely as possible.”

J-R makes a big case for doing regular, conscious SE’s — spiritual exercises. “Not quantity, but quality,” he says. “Doing SE’s, I know I’m calling upon God’s most sacred and holy name. I know that. Think of it this way. When I call my dogs, they come because they know their names. When I call God’s name, Spirit comes present. You know, if a car was going to hit you as you walk across the street and you suddenly cry, ‘Oh God!’ for help, and then that car misses you, that’s the way “Oh God!” should be said all the time. And that’s the way S.E.’s should be done.”
