In MSIA, we teach taking the short-cut as much as we can. And the short-cut is inside. That's the shortest distance between you and your love. We teach, "Let's go to the love right now, in this breath." That's a great challenge because negativity would draw us off and direct us to forget our divinity. If we do forget, then we allowed it. Nothing ever made us go off. We chose to go off even if by lack of staying conscious. And it wasn't about what happened to me in the world or even what I did. What got me off is what happened inside me, where I lost consciousness, lost sight of the presence of the holy, and forgot that it's all holy. I forgot that when God issued the creation, it was all sanctified, so no part of it is unholy.

Often when we don't do what we know to do, it's because we're too close to the problem to see it clearly. We need to take a few steps back - or up. The phrases I use to remind myself of this are, "Get some distance on the situation," and "Get some altitude." Astronauts who have gone into orbit report having had a transformational experience when they looked back at Earth. Gazing at our beautiful planet, with its aquamarine seas and with white clouds floating around it, they saw perfect harmony. Imagine for a moment that it's ten or twenty or thirty years ago, and one of those astronauts is circling the planet in his spacecraft, awed by the beauty and harmony he's seeing. He focuses his telescope on your country, then zooms in on your city, your street, and finally, your house. There you are, alone in your bedroom, bawling your eyes out over an immense tragedy - your girlfriend (or boyfriend) turned down your invitation to the prom. Which view of the world is "correct" in that moment: the perfect order and harmony the astronaut is seeing - or the chaos and tragedy in your life? Neither view is right or wrong in itself. Which one is "correct" is a matter of perspective; it depends on where you are. So it goes with most things in life.

Do you love and assist those you are with? Do you keep in mind that all people are doing the best they can? Do you use the Light in all situations to assist and uplift? If that's your expression, you are moving into Soul.

Sometimes, even when you are loving, the other person feels hurt or offended anyway. But we can choose not to intentionally hurt others. If you still need reasons to follow the principle "Don't hurt yourself, don't hurt others," here are two: you'll be happier if you act that way, and you'll be of service to others simply by your loving presence.

The spiritual energy brings liberation, and liberation is the keynote of the Soul. Liberation is the inner attitude of freedom. It is not what you do; it is how you do it. You can say right now, "I am free from the shackles of my emotional habits. I am free from the addictions of my mind. I am living a life of preference."

When you feel like you can't handle a situation, it's often because you're afraid to attempt it. And often when you're afraid to attempt it, it's because you're afraid to make a mistake. Lean into what seems to be the right action and see what happens. Check the feeling you get inside. Put the Light with it. If it balks at you, let it go. If it seems to be flowing, flow with it - not with what you think should be taking place, unless it matches with what is taking place. Move out of the consciousness of mistakes and into the consciousness of experiencing.

On the way to your goal, there may be some difficulties. Why? Because having a positive goal means that you have decided to gain and grow. Sometimes, as part of growth, come growing pains, but you don't have to focus on them. Like the saying goes, "Put your eye on the doughnut, not the hole."

What's the test here on this earth? Loving it all. As soon as you don't love something, that's when you get miserable. You might say, "Yeah, but it really is awful. That thing is bad. It's not lovable." Says who? Not the Christ. The one who forgot says that. The one who is in darkness says that. The one who's false says that. When you know better, you don't listen to that one. That's when your faith puts you back in line because you realize, "My dedication won't allow me to not love, so I must love." If necessary, withdraw your involvement to the place inside you that is the source of love. Renew yourself in that love.

John Morton, DSS
To those people who are on a conscious spiritual path, it becomes important to face the reality of the situations you created, because it is through seeing the face of suffering, despair, joy, heartache, happiness, love - both in yourself and in others - that you see the face of God.

John-Roger, DSS
You don't have to do drugs to get "up." You can go very high through the Spirit in a way that is far more fulfilling.
