OH, HAPPY DAY! Easter at the Beach with John Morton

The Weather Elves were working over-time this morning, as our Trusty Traveler and the stalwarts of MSIA trooped out to Santa Monica, and basked in beautiful Spring sunshine and mild breezes, for entertainment and an Easter seminar.

NOW Productions, those crazy folks with the microphones and cameras, were on site well before anyone else, running cables and setting up the technical whiz-bang end of things. They provided amplification, a small FM Radio station, a temporary sound system via “boom boxes” (really big radios), and small pocket radios with headsets on loan. They also videotaped the event. And the whole thing was broadcast via the Internet on Ustream to dozens of places around the world.

It was no surprise that, as the morning unfolded, more and more folks showed up (in a variety of Winter, Spring and Summer attire), many of whom were volunteers for the various tasks necessary to make the day a joy for everyone. And lots of families with children arrived, ready to greet the Easter Bunny (if he should appear!). For early birds, there were a variety of bagels and cream cheese, to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

Rick Ojeda was our Emcee, introducing first Julie Lurie, who offered a reading from one of J-R’s seminars, regarding the Christ within each of us. Alethea Lamb was next, and she played a lovely, meditative piece on the clarinet. She was followed by Nat Sharratt, who graced us with a newly minted song, one that brought the loving quite present.

John Morton, Spiritual Director of MSIA, gave his presentation, talking about service, the Christ, service to others, and knowing the Good of our Hearts. It isn’t so much the words that he speaks, but the certainty and the strength of his loving, which seems to be transmitted on a wave of energy.

While John was speaking, the good people of Urth Caffe were setting up tables with coffee urns, fruit and vegetable salads, and a variety of sandwiches from their restaurant. (Their food, by-the-by, is healthy, all natural, and just Delicious!) As John completed his talk, Alethea returned to share another song, this time it was upbeat and big band Swing! And the crowd of 150 or more gave a good round of applause and promptly exited to the food tables, to chat with friends and enjoy the beautiful day on the beach. Blessings of Light and Abundance were everywhere.

I heard a few people (new faces but familiar Souls) suggest that MSIA should have these Sunday services on the beach EVERY Sunday. That would be a treat, especially in glorious weather! Like today, for example, Easter Sunday, April 8th, 2012.

Here are some sharings from online viewers:
Great event! What a gift to watch it online. I couldn’t make it this year and was so glad that it was available to me in Minneapolis.
