Yes, it was another grand bookstore event and then some at the Santa Barbara Borders Bookstore on the evening of October 26. We are grateful to all the Santa Barbara residents, and to some stalwart Los Angelinos, who came out in the rain for an evening with author John Morton.

Way before the book talk began, the crowd started assembling. Early birds were greeted by the store event coordinator, Nancy Johnson, and told that a special offer was available (thanks to a surprise sponsor) offering 1 free John-Roger or John Morton book for every two of their books purchased. The offer was good for that evening and the group was up for the bargain.

NOW Productions, with a crew of Greg Fritz, Deborah Martinez, Doug Gibson and Phil Danza, were on hand to make sure the best sound could be had for this evening. Brooke Danza lent her special creative touch to mounting all the books artistically and for buying appeal.

By the time John Morton stepped up to talk, more than 100 plus people had gathered, and the numbers kept growing as the group attracted the attention of other bookshoppers in the store. John took the group on a journey into looking at the nature of Blessings in our lives, where the blessings are in even the most challenging experiences we are having, and acknowledging what we are aware of when we take the time to see or feel the blessing.

Once again I had that experience of being in a temple while John was sharing wisdoms and teachings that are so simple, yet powerful and profound. And I smile now as I remember looking around seeing the crowd of people standing and sitting amidst the aisles, on the steps, in the stacks of books and magazines, in the caf
