Peace is Present Workshop with John Morton at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens

On Tuesday, August 16, in the spirit of the Olympics, more than 250 people from 17 countries around the world—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Colombia, France, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Panama, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela—gathered in-person and online with a focus on peace.

Hosted by MSIA staffers Alethea Lamb and Janeth Jaime, the Peace is Present workshop at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens was a sweet, interactive event co-sponsored by the Institute for Individual and World Peace (IIWP) and Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy (PTS).

Facilitators John Morton, Spiritual Director of MSIA, and Leigh Taylor-Young Morton, Global Peace Ambassador, had appropriately just returned from attending the Rio Olympics. John started by saying “Through spiritual living and higher consciousness, we can make the world a Place of Peace” and shared that the purpose of this event was “sharing the principles of peace so we can all live in peace always and in all ways, regardless of conditions and circumstances.”

Participants heard excerpts about peace from MSIA’s founder John-Roger, explored what peace means to them personally, discussed the deeper issues that tend to disturb their inner peace, and learned several valuable tools to come back into peace after a disturbance. All of these exercises are available as part of the recording of the workshop.

Near the end of the event, Barbara Wieland and Maria-Jose Maranon performed Barbara’s delightful original song, based on the “nine magic words” of John-Roger’s Peace Prayer:

Peace Prayer Song

Verse
God bless you (God bless you)
I love you (I love you)
Peace be still, Peace be still
(repeat)

Chorus
The mystical travelers are singing to you
Deep in your heart they are singing to you
And all ‘cross the world, the peacemakers hear
Voices repeating this message so clear

Tag
And all ‘cross the world, the peacemakers hear
Voices repeating this message so clear

(c) 2004 Barbara Wieland

Barbara graciously shares an inside look at the origins of this song: “During the Gathering of Peacemakers at the 2004 MSIA Conference, John said (as I heard it) that the Peace Prayer is a real thing in Spirit, and that when we on the Earth say this prayer, spiritual beings on the other side repeat it back to us and hold the energy for us. When he said that, I saw it. This song came out of that experience.

“Rehearsing this time around, as Maria Jose and I sang it over and over, another seeing opened up for me. It was a deep purple expanse of sky filled above us, with star-like white lights that each seemed to have consciousness. In that sky materialized the faces of beings on the other side. They were radiant, joyful, seeing, knowing, beaming love back to us as we sang the song. And they were singing it back to us. As we rehearsed the song, I got higher and higher. It was wonderful!”
