Heaven On Earth Tour 2018 | Amalfi, Italy | Day 17

“My job is to awaken the soul into the soul realm, so you can have heaven while you’re on earth.” John-Roger, DSS.

Amalfi, Italy | Day 17 | October 1, 2018

Today we depart from Rome. It has been two very full days of grandiose buildings, statues, churches, and crowds. Rome is a busy city, full of ancient history where the whole city could be turned into a museum. I am looking forward to the bus ride to the next destination so that I can absorb the sensory overload of Rome.

We are traveling today to the Amalfi Coast. We wave goodbye to some of our travel mates who are heading back home or onto another destination. The bonds that develop with each other on the trips are beautiful and so full of love. On our journey to the Amalfi Coast, we stop at The Royal Palace of Caserta. The palace was constructed for the Bourbon kings of Naples. It is one of the largest palaces erected in Europe during the 18th century. In 1997, the palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is described as “the swan song of the spectacular art of the Baroque, from which many of its features came from”.The Royal Palace is the largest royal residence in the world with 1200 rooms and five floors. In April 1945 the palace was the site of the signing of terms of the unconditional German surrender of forces in Italy.

As we depart the castle, it is pouring rain, and we head out down the street for a five-minute short walk to the famous pizzeria, Mazza. We enter the lunch room which is family style and old treasures of musical horns hang on the walls. The lunch is Pizza! We have about 5 different types of pizza brought out followed by a rum soaked sponge cake with cream and cherries on top. As we exit the rain is coming down in buckets and we enjoy some time waiting to see if the rain is going to let up. The group breaks out singing Allelujah and only a few minutes later, the rain retreats a bit and it is time for us to head to the bus to Amalfi.

As we get closer to Amalfi, the streets get more narrow, windy, and steep and are only for the brave. The bus driver is not only an expert but is obviously well versed in driving a huge bus up and down tiny roads that barely a car can pass by. The ocean side of the bus is sheer mountain cliffs with views out of this world. Many turns have brought about large ovations for the driver and is ability to maneuver the streets.

As we arrive in Amalfi, we are greeted with a charming staff with Italian accents and excellent english. Many of us head off to our rooms to wind down from the day. It has been quite a full day Traveling and now it is time to catch the midnight Travelers’ train.

In Loving Service
