You know, if you are really in a state of cooperation, you can ask someone to close a door to keep a room warm, and that one you ask will run around and close all the doors, turn up the heat, check the windows, and do whatever he can to make sure that you are comfortable. That may be cooperation in an extreme way. But it is that willingness to go the extra mile that makes the difference.

When you’re living outside cooperation, life can get pretty miserable. You may spend a lot of time, just sitting around, “chewing your guts into fiddle strings.” The doctors call it ulcers or heartburn. Or it could be called heartache, despair, agony, and loneliness. You block the flow of energy that is present to be used in action, in doing. When you block the action, when you don’t cooperate with that which needs to be done, the energy turns inward and becomes negative — and you feel that as a “downer.” Sometimes you curse and blame God for your trouble. God probably, didn’t have anything to do with it. You do that to yourself. And you can undo it for yourself. You get out of depression by doing, by moving into the positive flow of action, by cooperating with what is present in your life.

People sometimes feel that life is unfair and the things that happen to them, they don’t deserve. But it’s just not so. When you cry out, “Why me, Lord?” the reply might very well be, “Because you promoted it and it’s coming to you, and I love you so much that I’ll allow you to experience and learn from your own creation.” You always get the things that you have worked to create; that applies equally to things positive and negative. And you get the return in proportion to the effort that you put out towards that — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We are creators and we are very adept at it. So when something happens in your life that you like or that you dislike, take a look at what you did to bring that to yourself.

There are a few quick ways to determine whether or not you’re in a state of cooperation. One is the attitude of “I’m right!” which creates separation as it places a judgment on someone or something else.

Another key to knowing your level of cooperation (or lack of it) is: “You’re wrong!” As soon as you hear yourself say that, you should have somebody kick you real hard where it hurts — to wake you up and get you to look at your attitude.

Another way to tell when you’re not cooperating with what’s going on is if you hear yourself say, “Yes, but…” The way to cooperate with people who are saying, “Yes, but…” is just to let them win, just let them have their way. It’s easy. When they’ve won, then you can continue in your own positive direction, and you don’t have to be involved in their point of view at all.

We’re moving into the new age, into the golden age, into an age where the awareness of Spirit is present more completely than it has ever been before. People are learning and growing at a tremendous rate. You’ll be faced continually with opportunities for cooperation. And you may be aware of and be able to move into some of them, and you may miss others. But later, when the energy drops out from under you and you start to feel the “down” feelings, you’ll realize that you missed a chance for self-cooperation. Use those times to teach you. Look back at those situations. Evaluate where you moved out of cooperation and into your own personal point of view of, “I’m right.” Then just look for the next opportunity for cooperation to appear, and then practice the positive attitude.

In this new age you have infinite opportunity to move into the higher qualities. Keep enthusiasm going within you, for whatever it is you’re involved with. Anticipate joy at every step. And maintain a sense of being grateful for your blessings. Being grateful means maintaining the awareness that God is entirely present in every moment of your life, and that you don’t have to go anywhere to experience the glory of God’s presence. When you are in a state of awareness and cooperation, all things flow to you and you want for nothing. When you block your awareness of God and block your cooperation with His plan for you, then you experience separation and despair. The joy of it is that you can turn to the positive quality at any moment and the joy will be entirely present for you.

And when the joy of Spirit is present, you can’t do enough good works. Your cooperation is full. Your love is manifest. Your Light shines forth into the world and you become of service to everyone you meet. You spread the Light consciousness everywhere you go, and just by your presence you can bring balance and joy to people … you don’t even have to say a word. The Light will move through you to others and bring to them what is necessary and beneficial to them. It’s a beautiful service … to live in grace and maintain your awareness of the Spirit within. If you do nothing but that, you are a Light unto the world.

All you have to do is cooperate with what is.

Baruch Bashan

WATCH A MOMENT OF PEACE WITH JOHN-ROGER

      <div style="display:
