In 1972 while visiting a friend in California, I was told about John-Roger and his nightly talks in people\u2019s homes that she attended. \u00a0She showed me his picture on the front page of On The Light Side<\/em>, MSIA\u2019s newsletter at that time. \u00a0When I saw John-Roger\u2019s face, I swallowed hard and experienced something for which I have no words.\u00a0 She explained about the “contributions” and that J-R could read people’s minds.\u00a0 In horror, I asked her if that was scary for her.\u00a0 She replied, “No, because of his great love for everyone.”<\/p>\n

That night, while asleep, I received my astral initiation, although I didn\u2019t know what that unworldly experience was at the time.<\/p>\n

I began studying the Teachings, having many inner experiences and dreams, and I wrote the following about J-R, my beloved spiritual teacher:<\/p>\n

Presenting to us what we need to grow
\nAwakening heart centers of those who choose back
\nShowing us the keys so that we may unlock the doors
\nAlways serving for the Highest Good
\nI stand before you like a blossoming flower.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When my husband and I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in January 1974, the Welcome Wagon lady soon knocked on our door with a basket of muffins and a big welcome to the community. \u00a0She told me about various ways to get involved. \u00a0One was the Flagstaff Community Theater, of which she was a member.<\/p>\n

Being a Leo — albeit a shy one — I was immediately drawn into this chance to be on stage. \u00a0Small town, small theater. \u00a0Safe, right? \u00a0She said there would be tryouts for a play the next morning and invited me to come and do a cold reading. \u00a0\u201cBeing in a play sounds like fun, but oh, no, I couldn\u2019t do a cold reading!\u201d I replied.<\/p>\n

That night while sleeping, J-R appeared to me. \u00a0He was sitting in a rocking chair. \u00a0As he rocked to and fro, he said to me, \u201cI thought you wanted to be in the play.\u201d \u00a0\u201cI do, J-R, but I\u2019m afraid to try out. \u00a0Too shy.\u201d \u00a0He looked at me, smiling, saying nothing, and continued to rock.<\/p>\n

The next morning the lady called me on the phone and said, \u201cTryouts for our play are over, but we still need a role filled. Would you consider coming to our first rehearsal and just stepping into that role?\u201d<\/p>\n

Inside me, I saw J-R\u2019s face. \u00a0Just like the night before, he was kind of chuckling. \u00a0I was 100 percent sure he had arranged this opportunity for me. \u00a0Out of the depths of his loving.<\/p>\n

I went on to act in several plays there. \u00a0My confidence grew. \u00a0I even did a soliloquy on stage. \u00a0It was a wonderful time in my life.<\/p>\n
