You are setting yourself up for what you can handle spiritually by setting up the intention.\u00a0 The result of choosing an intention is something happens.\u00a0 It\u2019s a reference point like a North Star that allows you a bearing to move on. <\/em>– John Morton<\/p>\n

This article is taken from a sharing John Morton had with a PTS Master\u2019s Class Year 1 in June 1998.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whatever intentions we have mentally, physically, or emotionally, I find exceptions in those levels.\u00a0 But when I look spiritually, I don\u2019t find any exceptions.\u00a0\u00a0Our\u00a0spiritual intention has no exceptions.<\/p>\n

Our spiritual intentions are always practical.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t always easy, and it isn\u2019t always popular.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t always something that lasts in the form that we first meet or what it was five minutes ago.\u00a0 It changes.\u00a0 The intention can remain, but how it expresses and manifests changes.\u00a0 If I am attempting to hold on to what my spiritual intention was an hour, a day, week or month ago – it is not necessarily going to be in that form anymore.<\/p>\n

I relate it to being tested.\u00a0 Things come in that in some way tempt me to move my consciousness in a way that is distant or dissonant from the intention.\u00a0 That\u2019s where the test is.\u00a0 It would be as easy to lock into some form of judgement and decide, \u201cBased on how I\u2019m relating to my expression of humanness, I\u2019m off.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0We can stay\u00a0resonant, which is a complementary word to dissonant.\u00a0 Resonant would be staying in harmony with how the intention is working.<\/p>\n

I relate to spiritual intention like a \u201cmission impossible\u201d of sorts.\u00a0 What are we going to do?\u00a0 It is still there as a mission even though on some level we wouldn\u2019t accomplish it.\u00a0 If you are measuring, we don\u2019t accomplish ourselves spiritually in this world.\u00a0 Something gets lost in the translation.<\/p>\n

One of the ways we explain the Traveler Consciousness is that it is a consciousness that is being stepped down.\u00a0 When it takes on psychic-material forms, it has to reduce and condense itself into that form.\u00a0 Something gets lost in the translation and there is also something that never gets lost in the translation.\u00a0 It goes through as a thread.\u00a0 There is a thread of spirit that is present here physically or there wouldn\u2019t be this discussion.\u00a0 The spirit gets in.<\/p>\n

When we have an intention, I look at it as it is an awareness.\u00a0 The intention takes place automatically.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have to do anything.\u00a0 There is nothing really to do.\u00a0 The awareness will take care of it.\u00a0 What happens is that by giving ourself an awareness of our spiritual intention, just by putting our consciousness onto it, something happens.\u00a0 It is the one that is supreme, the \u201cmother of all intentions.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a world of many levels.\u00a0 It is a world where there are a lot of things converging.\u00a0 That\u2019s the beauty and the great advantage of it.\u00a0 We all have an opportunity to transcend, to do a \u201cspringboard.\u201d That is the term John-Roger used over the years.\u00a0 This place is a springboard into our spiritual awareness.<\/p>\n

If you look at it in terms of really necessary and needed experience, there is no way around those.\u00a0 You have a required experience for you to fulfill yourself spiritually.\u00a0 That is one of those profound statements.\u00a0 That is an eternal truth and how I relate to it.\u00a0 Being eternal, it is not new.\u00a0 It is one of those statements that rings and just keeps ringing.\u00a0\u00a0 When you look at it, you go, \u201cIt\u2019s still ringing.\u201d\u00a0 Then, ten years later, \u201cIt\u2019s still ringing.\u201d\u00a0 We are here to have a certain kind of experience that our soul awakens to.\u00a0 Beyond that, there is choice.<\/p>\n

There is a great, vast difference between what is truly necessary and what we do by choice.\u00a0 Choice is something that we embellish, so that it allows us to have variations on a theme.\u00a0 Like, how many ways can you have your toast?\u00a0 What if the reality was that when you came in the world, \u201ctoast\u201d was on your list?\u00a0 \u201cYou\u00a0will<\/u>\u00a0have toast.\u201d You go through life and say, \u201cHey, when I was eighteen months old, I had toast.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 You fulfilled that requirement at eighteen months, and you\u2019ve been having toast ever since.\u00a0 Consider that if you go past your desire into obsessions, then you\u00a0are<\/u>\u00a0toast!<\/p>\n

We often do things to ourselves that aren\u2019t necessary.\u00a0 We do them because we are allowed to set up intentions that aren\u2019t necessary.\u00a0 We do them by our choices, desires, the kinds of thoughts and emotions we hold and the physical involvement we have.\u00a0 We set up intentions and forget that long ago, most of what we set up is no longer necessary.\u00a0 It became a luxury, something we do not have to do.\u00a0 We do it because we are afforded a great amount of opportunity beyond what is necessary.<\/p>\n

One way we know we are in abundant consciousness is that we\u2019re given much more than we need.\u00a0 There is a great opportunity for how grace works.\u00a0 If we were at a level of always doing just what we need, it would be like staying put.\u00a0 It would be a very static existence.\u00a0 It would not be one of progression.\u00a0 It would be like, \u201cYou are a bolt. Your place is right here.\u00a0 And there you shall remain.\u201d<\/p>\n

It would be an existence based just on necessity.\u00a0 \u201cThis is what you are, and this is what you shall remain.\u201d\u00a0 But it\u2019s not like that.\u00a0 We are an existence that is growing and transforming.\u00a0 That is the only way we really can measure that, and it\u2019s an immeasurable quality.\u00a0 It is in our growth and spiritual transformation.\u00a0 That is really where it takes place at the level of the soul, and that\u2019s a level of consciousness.<\/p>\n

Some people have an attitude like, \u201cI don\u2019t know what my soul is.\u00a0 I don\u2019t relate to it.\u00a0 I\u2019m not aware or conscious of it.\u00a0 It\u2019s an idea I like, but\u2026\u201d\u00a0 One way to relate to your soul is that it is the part of you that is conscious.\u00a0 The soul is the part of you that is alive.\u00a0 If you can behold that, you are beholding your soul.\u00a0 It has a consciousness that has awareness of your mentality, thoughts, emotions, physicality as well as how you feel and sense things.\u00a0 It\u2019s a circus with many rings going on all at once.\u00a0 It is multidimensional.\u00a0 There are levels of it that go unconscious.\u00a0 Yet your soul is still conscious.<\/p>\n

How would we know what the unconscious is if some part of us isn\u2019t conscious?\u00a0 Something has to be conscious to know about the unconscious because how would it know about the unconscious?\u00a0 See how that works?\u00a0 The mind starts boggling when it does this trip because it really isn\u2019t equipped to make it.\u00a0 It\u2019s operating on a narrow band, but it is a band that we in this world function on.<\/p>\n

If I say, \u201cLet\u2019s turn on the radio,\u201d and we turn to 1420 on the AM dial, on comes this station and you go, \u201cSee!\u00a0 I\u2019m conscious.\u00a0 I\u2019m\u00a0 \u2018A-M\u2019 conscious.\u201d\u00a0 What about all the other stations?\u00a0 Your soul is the one that hears all the stations and bands.\u00a0 It is conscious on all those levels.\u00a0 And who is that?\u00a0 Well, that is God.\u00a0 That is the One who is conscious on all levels, and that is who your soul is.\u00a0 The difference between the soul that is God and that soul that is you, is awareness.<\/p>\n

There are experiences that are going to flip on the switches for your awareness. There are many switches, and each switch turns on a set of lights.\u00a0 Every time we turn on a light it gets brighter.\u00a0 And every time it gets brighter you can see more clearly because the light starts illuminating what has previously been shadowed or obscured.\u00a0 It was just something we were not experiencing in an illuminated way.<\/p>\n

As we awaken spiritually, we become the illumination.\u00a0 We become the source of illumination so that where we look, there is light.\u00a0 Where we look, it is illuminated and revealed for what it is.\u00a0 Spiritually, it\u2019s full intensity.\u00a0 No shadows.\u00a0 It is all revealed and seen for what it is.<\/p>\n

You are setting yourself up for what you can handle spiritually by setting up the intention.\u00a0 The result of choosing an intention is something happens.\u00a0 It\u2019s a reference point like a North Star that allows you a bearing to move on.\u00a0 A North Star is a valuable reference point because we have charted the heavens, so to speak, and the North Star give us a bearing.\u00a0 By knowing where we are in relation to the North Star, we can know where other things are.\u00a0 We can know how to set our self-direction with a compass.<\/p>\n

Our intention is to go to joy.\u00a0 How does joy relate to the North Star, which is God? It relates very well.\u00a0 Joy and God are closely, intimately related.\u00a0 Let\u2019s say my spiritual intention is to know it\u2019s all good and to know God.\u00a0 I know knowing God is knowing it\u2019s all good and knowing it\u2019s all good is knowing God.\u00a0\u00a0 I can work with that intention for a long time and stay with it.<\/p>\n

A statement from John-Roger that closely relates is, \u201cThe secret of soul transcendence is to see the good in all people and things and leave the rest to God.\u201d\u00a0 There it is laid out.\u00a0 That is the secret.\u00a0 Well, it is not a secret if it\u2019s being told.\u00a0 But why is it a secret?\u00a0 Because some part of us still doesn\u2019t know. It is secret to that part, and that\u2019s the part that needs to have it revealed.\u00a0 When we are aware, \u201cThis doesn\u2019t appear to be good to me.\u00a0 I don\u2019t like this.\u00a0 I\u2019m having a hard time, struggling, and reacting.\u201d That is a point to invoke the spiritual intention.<\/p>\n

If you move on things that aren\u2019t so for you, that is where you get caught.\u00a0 If you are going on things that aren\u2019t really aligned with your intention, that is where you get caught.\u00a0 The simple idea of not paying attention, not being willing to uphold yourself spiritually, that\u2019s off.<\/p>\n

When we are off, it isn\u2019t like, \u201cWell, so what? I\u2019m just human.\u201d\u00a0 There is a responsibility there to move on.\u00a0 When we are aware of the good, and it\u2019s all good, we are discerning because there is a higher good.\u00a0 Since there is a higher good, it follows that there\u2019s a lower good.\u00a0 Where are you going to place yourself?\u00a0 Higher good.\u00a0 That\u2019s smart.\u00a0 That is very smart because you might as well utilize your choices and experience here to focus yourself toward the very best experience, the experience that is going to illuminate your soul.<\/p>\n

If you have the opportunity to do something that really serves you spiritually, you have a responsibility to make yourself available to that experience.\u00a0 Not just once, but all of the time.\u00a0 Another way of saying it is, \u201cThe price of eternal freedom is eternal vigilance.\u201d\u00a0 That means you watch, and then when you watch you move yourself.\u00a0 You cooperate.\u00a0 That is one of the spiritual laws we are working with.\u00a0 The law of cooperation.<\/p>\n

Acceptance is the first law of Spirit, and I relate to it as a state of freedom.\u00a0 To let everything be free to be what it is without interference from me.\u00a0 Who am I to interfere with what God is doing?\u00a0 To resist, struggle, fight, denounce, or reject it?<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s not my level of concern, \u201cThat\u2019s not for me, I don\u2019t want to be part of that,\u201d there are lots of choices around that.\u00a0 I can elect to not be involved in most of what is going on and still maintain my spiritual intention, which is to \u201csee the good in all people and things and leave the rest to God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thank you, Lord, for once again bringing us together.
\nFirst, as Your children.
\nThat we can be in touch deeply, profoundly.
\nThat we\u2019re loved and cherished.
\nThat all of Your children are fully loved and cherished.
\nWe just take this moment to extend that once again,
\nso we feel it personally.
\nWe are in touch with Your love and how You embrace us.
\nAnd for whatever is being corrected, realigned,
\nadjusted, transformed, let us be those who fully accept and cooperate.
\nAnd Your blessing of understanding comes present.
\nSo we see.
\nWe know how everything serves a divine purpose.
\nSo we come into our trust with You.
\nThat You extend our trust into our life
\nso we become creators.
\nAnd all of what we\u2019re experiencing in this world
\ncontributes to our learning
\nand our becoming co-creators with You.<\/p>\n

Let us put aside in Your forgiveness, in Your light and love,
\nwhatever is not serving our understanding.
\nEspecially any judgments,
\nany withholding from the truth,
\nany denial of the truth.
\nSo take whatever we put as shadows,
\nas blocks, as restrictions,
\nso we\u2019re seeing the truth that is alive in Your love,
\nfull of harmony, full of goodness.
\nAnd in this view, we can see all the suffering, all the pain
\nis releasing, clearing, and letting go.<\/p>\n

And as we let go in this blessing
\nand we embrace all that You are,
\nYou fill us,\u00a0You fill us with Your energy.
\nThis is an energy that surges, expands.
\nIt needs to express.
\nIt needs to go out, manifest in Your loving,
\nin Your light, Your joy,
\nYour peace and understanding.
\nSo it becomes joy to all.
\nThat we are here to create greater good,
\nand there is no limit.<\/p>\n

And now we come to the great oneness.
\nThat we can see that all Your creation at any level,
\nin any condition,
\nis always served in loving.
\nAnd this is the great truth.<\/p>\n

We are blessed. We are loved. We are divine.<\/p>\n
