MSIA’s Conference of the Inner Master \u00a0<\/a>will be hosted at Prana.\u00a0 Please save the dates June 25 – 30, 2025 and consider coming to visit this year.\u00a0 The magic of\u00a0 Conference is even more fun in person!<\/p>\n

We began January with a major convergence here in Los Angeles.\u00a0 The Eaton and Palisades Fires began on January 7, quickly impacting our environment and displacing friends and family who lost homes or were evacuated.\u00a0\u00a0 This was the view west from the Prana roof, towards the Palisades, on the first evening of the fires.<\/p>\n

We immediately opened the Prana campus to MSIA students who needed a place to land after the fires started displacing people from their homes \u2013 either because they were directly impacted or were under evacuation orders .\u00a0\u00a0 HeartReach jumped in to help get information out to the community and get Light on the situation, coordinated with the Prana campus, and helped coordinate places to stay outside of the Prana campus when needed.\u00a0 Some MSIAers stayed at Prana just a couple of days until their homes were safe to return to. \u00a0 They expressed great appreciation for the safety and sanctuary they experienced.<\/p>\n

Former residents like Ofelia Mancera and Sharon Soeller were delighted to experience Prana life again after many years.\u00a0\u00a0 Others, like Lady Rodriguez, were amazed and grateful to be immersed in the Traveler energy present in the house.\u00a0\u00a0 It was sweet to see them jump in to assist at Prana with the expanded population \u2013 like helping with salad bar preparation or cleaning the dining room after a crowd for an event came through.<\/p>\n

The impact was enormous. Most of us know friends and associates who lost everything in the fires. \u00a0Although things are generally back to normal in the city, the affected areas will be recovering for several years to come.\u00a0It was heartening that Prana was in a safe zone and was able to support our community at such a devastating time. \u00a0More than a month later, we have nine folks still living here while they sort out an eventual return to their homes or make other arrangements.<\/p>\n

At last December\u2019s Living in Grace retreat, someone asked Vincent Dupont for some tips on learning to be a good facilitator.\u00a0\u00a0 Vincent said that what comes to mind are: practice, and something J-R told him very early on: getting out of the way (especially his own way) and letting the Lord minister through him. (He is still practicing!).\u00a0\u00a0 We plan to hold a retreat again at Asilomar on December 8-14, 2025, as well as a South American edition of Living in Grace in Colombia<\/a> on January 26 – February 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

The Laughter, Humor, Joy and Happiness, The Golden Age Is Now fundraiser and birthday party for Leigh Taylor-Young on January 25 was a smash success and delight for all who attended online and in person.\u00a0\u00a0 The event raised $100,000 to benefit animal care at Windermere Ranch, a focus especially dear to Leigh\u2019s heart.\u00a0 \u00a0Check out the NDH article about the event, with photo slideshows by David Sand, here<\/a>.\u00a0 Also look for photos and a glorious recap in the next Windermere newsletter coming out soon.\u00a0\u00a0 Subscribe here for the Windermere newsletter<\/a> if you aren\u2019t already on the Windermere Newsletter mailing list.<\/p>\n

Although Prana is in the heart of urban Los Angeles, we still experience a lot of nature. We have many trees, a fish pond, may water features, and are visited by possums, racoons, and coyotes, David Jaramillo recently saw a beautiful hawk in one of the garden trees.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We also have doves, sparrows, and crows around the property \u2013 as well as roving flocks of squawking wild parrots<\/a>. Spotting a hawk is more unusual.\u00a0\u00a0A group of crows (correctly known as a murder of crows, believe it or not) also spotted the hawk and were none too pleased to see it near their nests. \u00a0They gathered in nearby trees and let the hawk know they prefer it find a different hunting ground.<\/p>\n

And that was the first month of our new year!<\/p>\n
