As I graduate from the Master of Spiritual Science (MSS) from Peace Theological Seminary College of Philosophy, I want to share my story and the song that carried me through it all: “The Way God Loves Me.”

This song was born from struggle, heartache, endurance, and the undeniable truth that I am forever loved by God. I am learning—truly learning—to love all of me, the way God loves me.

I began MSS four years ago on the Transcendent Leadership track. After a powerful first year, I was met with such intense karmic unraveling in the second year that I couldn’t stay afloat. I eventually withdrew from the program and checked into Peace Theological Seminary, entering a deep season of self-healing. The Christ and the Traveler met me there. As I surrendered, God began putting the pieces of me back together—building a new solid foundation from the rubble I had collapsed into.

During that time, music became my companion and guidepost. The people at the center, the collaborations, the Spirit moving through all of it—something awakened. A remembering. A flurry of soul songs poured through me. They carried a frequency that was deeply healing for me. These were songs of my soul, songs of the love and longing, and truth of my experience. I had never written music like this before.

When I felt strong enough, I enrolled in a different two-year MSS program. A month later, during Insight II, I performed one of my songs. The facilitator called it “extraordinary.” That moment landed in my heart. I knew then: these songs weren’t meant to stay hidden. They were alive—spiritually charged, soul-born, and meant to be shared.

Even though I had no experience with producing music, I knew I had to try. As MSS progressed, so did the intensity. How could such a “simple” program with such “simple” assignments be so challenging for me? The karmas poured out. Some days, all I could do was breathe through it—one breath at a time. But that was enough. It turns out, if you stay in the breath, in the moment, things really are okay.

In year two, I knew it was time to bring the song to life. It became a lighthouse of Spirit—beckoning me forward through layers of musical karma, personal challenges, and the joy of creative surrender. It took me five months to record and produce. The MSS processes supported a complete rewrite of the lyrics—three times—until the song finally landed. The program became an energetic container for something sacred to release, to be transformed with grace and loving hand as the spirit worked through me. Everything God brought forward was a piece of me that needed to be loved, forgiven, and healed. I was becoming more whole and integrated.

There has been a divine thread of spiritual orchestration through all of this. Thank you God, for every challenge, for they reflected in me places I had not surrendered. Thank you God, for the friends and support, the loving gifts, the laughter, and your loving hand, reminding me to stay true to myself. I am building my castle with foundations of unconditional love. For myself, and ultimately for us all.

A piece of my soul glows inside this song—hand in hand with the Lord—rewriting me, alleviating the past, illuminating the future, and bringing forward the divine wisdom of spiritual truth: Who I really am is the Beloved.

I don’t know what comes next. Hopefully more music. I just know God has me. And I’m done for—in the best way.

Maria Haddad

Maria Haddad is a musician, creative director, and spiritual student.
