Often we attend MSIA’s Internet Webcasts here in Los Angeles without any real sense of how these events play out around the world. But last night’s class, “As Long As We Shall Love”, with John Morton<\/a>, highlighted just how global we have become.<\/p>\n

As MC Nick Segal opened the evening with a prayer and the chanting of the Ani Hu<\/a>, it was a sacred and peaceful moment. He explained the basic principles of Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness <\/a> (MSIA), and then introduced Kevin McMillan, who sang “Just in Time,” a great standard, wonderfully performed.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the class we watched several video clips of John-Roger<\/a>, Founder of MSIA. J-R referred several times to the phrase, “As long as we shall love.” John Morton, MSIA’s Spiritual Director and facilitator for the evening, also referred several times to the phrase, “As long as we shall love.” That was the pre-Valentine’s Day theme for the evening — considering loving vs. unloving or not loving.<\/p>\n

When John took sharing from the audience in the Ballroom, as well as from the Internet, there seemed to be a wide range of statements and questions regarding loving. People wrote in from South America, South Africa, Australia, as well as right here in Los Angeles. John even received a question from a participant on the Internet in Nigeria. Many questions had to do with how to stay in the loving when circumstances might direct us otherwise. At one point, in response to a question, John stated that loving is a decision, a choice with commitment.<\/p>\n

Through all of this, including the one-to-one partner exercise, John’s eyes were twinkling with the loving and caring that he shares with us all. He reminded us that negative situations often bring about greater compassion, mercy, forgiveness and acceptance.<\/p>\n

When Nick Segal came back to the stage to close the evening, it was with a sweetness that embraced all on our way home. <\/p>\n
