For my book-signing event at the renowned Vroman’s Bookstore on October 29, I decided to wear my purple velvet “Joseph’s Technicolor Dream Coat.” In the early 1980s, I had been an usher at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, and J-R gave me this vividly hued garment, just as Joseph’s father gifted his famous coat of many colors.<\/p>\n

I remember wearing this particular jacket after J-R fell around 2004, and then again four years later, while sitting next to J-R on the dais for the first time, during his book signing at Barnes & Noble in 2008. Wearing it the other night at Vroman’s, I definitely felt J-R sitting there, right next to me. With so many of my MSIA family in the audience, it turned out to be a J-R centric love fest!<\/p>\n
