This is a wise seminar for every teenager and every parent, too. In it, John-Roger
\ntells stories from his own youth to illustrate his message for teens. J-R’s earthly
\nparents were strong people who held clear boundaries for their children.<\/p>\n
One of his stories starts this way, “I remember one night I started to go out someplace
\nand my Dad flipped me a dime. I caught it, and I said ‘What’s that?’ He said, ‘It’s a dime.’
\nI said, ‘Yeah?’ He said, ‘Well if you get in trouble, call the district attorney.’ I still have
\nthe dime to this day; I still have it. I wasn’t about to use it because that meant I was in
\ntrouble. And I figure, there are a lot of experiences in life that I can have without going
\nthrough trouble experiences.”<\/p>\n
J-R tells the youth, “A lot of people just don’t want to tell you true things. They’d
\nrather not let you know about life and they’re going to try to get you to do all sorts
\nof things for them to relieve them of their uncomfortable feelings. You have a real
\nchallenge in front of you, and that challenge is: Do you give up the space inside of you
\nthat is really sacred and beautiful and that you’ve been working to get clear, to please
\nsomebody who is, in their un-clarity, asking you to please them?”<\/p>\n
Later in the seminar, J-R says to the young people, “Take care of your body. That’s
\nwhere the Lord dwells — inside of you as you. We call it Christ, or we call it anything
\nwe want to, but that’s where it is. And no matter how you con yourself, when you look
\nin the mirror, there it is looking back at you saying, ‘You don’t fool me, ’cause I can see you.’ ”<\/p>\n
