The main value of spiritual exercises (s.e.'s) is for you to open your spiritual eyes and see what's happening on the levels you're traveling on. That's what s.e.'s are for. If you don't see, it doesn't mean you aren't traveling; you still are, but you may not know it.

Spiritual Exercises are not an expression intended for this physical level. Spiritual exercises are, in fact, the exercises that permit your consciousness to transcend the physical, and awaken to the glory of Spirit in the higher realms.

Some people go inside and do spiritual exercises; their mind and emotions unlock, and they start this free flow of upward energy (or maybe the energy comes down and pulls them up). They start to realize, "God loves and cares and knows that I exist."

When you are doing your spiritual exercises and everything starts going crazy inside, all you have to do is hold with that, and realize that you are in the presence of the Divine and it is the flesh, the mind, the emotions, and the unconscious that shake.

One thing that is taught in the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness, along with the spiritual exercises, is a process of objectivity. You're not just mindlessly chanting some tone all day long. You're taught to chant as a method of focusing. You are also taught to listen. And you are taught to watch and be aware.

Take time to go within, to be devoted to yourself, to read and to study spiritual things, to chant your tone and sing the song of God to yourself. Treat others as you would treat God. Be kind and loving when you are with others.

If you are an initiate, you can chant your own initiatory tone inwardly and tune to the power of that word which has been placed inside of you as the energy of God. Use that word to pull spiritual energy forward. Use it to heal yourself, use it to lift yourself. Use it to give you the strength to change. Use it to change those patterns inside of you that have held you down to the physical earth.

If you want to see what's going on, do spiritual exercises. If you don't care, don't bother.

Do spiritual exercises; sit and work with the Holy Spirit; go back inside where that Word is manifest and use it to tap through the levels of your own beingness - the mind, emotions, imagination, and body. Get the spiritual energies to come through those levels and start cleaning them up.

In spiritual exercises we leave the body and meet God in the Spirit and become one in the great Spirit with God. That produces great abundance in all our levels, but mostly spiritually.
