Here are three ways to search through the history of over 5,000 Loving Each Day quotes by John-Roger and John Morton.
It takes discernment to recognize the level of your enlightenment and then seek out those who can show you the next level. That part that is awake is the Soul. It never sleeps. It is in a constant state of pure awareness. The mind sleeps, the emotions sleep, the body sleeps. As you realize this, you wonder if you're really as great as you sometimes think you are. You're not great in the sense of your ego, but in the Soul you are far greater than you think you are.
By your works you will be known. You prepare your own feast, and you partake of your own feast. If you delay because you do not recognize your own worthiness, then there is no need to seek elsewhere. If you cannot find God within yourself, you will not find God anywhere else.
When the Traveler works with you, you may also find yourself having to deal with areas of your life and expression that have been problems or that could become problems if you continue to ignore them. Since the Traveler, in reality, is in you as you, this is like that greater part of you saying, "Pay attention. You need to look at this. I'll be with you as you go through this, but you have to look first and see what actions you need to take to clean this up." When these situations come up, they can feel very uncomfortable, but if you go into them with a willingness to be honest with yourself and an attitude of gratitude (for the opportunity of clearing karma), you can go through them and out the other side into greater freedom. And regardless of what you are aware of, the Traveler works with the votaries (the seekers after truth) "25 hours a day, eight days a week." And if you do not want to work with the Traveler, it becomes quiet because it does not inflict.
People have a lot of ideas about what service represents. When I look at the word "service," I look at the word, not at my idea about that word, because often the frequency of a word conveys its inner meaning. Being of service is freely doing without any other thought in mind except that of freely doing.
Perhaps you have some responsibility to confront and deal with what is troubling you in the world. Jesus confronted the people who were about to stone the adulteress. Perhaps he considered that if he intervened they might turn to throw stones at him instead. Regardless, he reflected to them that they were in judgment of the woman and yet they were not without sin which could bring upon them a stoning. Nobody was stoned that day and Jesus helped the woman understand it was because the judgments were stopped. He also admonished her to sin no more which was a message that she was still subject to the law even though it was grace that let her live another day.
When you feel like telling someone off, check all your levels. Is the response emotional? If it is, check to see if there is an intellect behind it, a logical, valid reason for your upset -- not a trumped-up reason to justify the emotions. If there is an emotional response and a valid reason, check the results of a physical response. If that also reads "clear," present your point of view in the awareness that you will be responsible for the result. If you do all that, you'll be clear.
Childlike is not childish. A childish view is spoiled, immature, and personality-driven. Childlike, on the other hand, relates to qualities we associate with the heart: being open and honest, living in the present moment, trusting our intuition. As adults we can learn a lot from this approach. The child is not concerned with protecting his image and can, therefore, be a true learner, open and receptive to whatever comes his way. If we drop our concern with appearances and take each moment as it comes, instead of rehashing the past and worrying about the future, we, too, can greet life in the same innocent and trusting way. This approach can be challenging for people in a society like ours, which overemphasizes the intellect. Intellectuals often have difficulty letting go of their ideas about how life should be. Their minds constantly take them out of the moment and into efforts to analyze and manipulate the world around them.
It is important to watch the attitude and keep it as neutral as possible.
It's very easy to follow the truth, but it can be very difficult to discern the truth. Or we could say it's very easy to follow a wise man, but a wise man is hard to find. When you find the truth, the wise man, or the Light, have the wit to follow and to be creative in your approach.
Move forward from your gratitude and devotion, and be open to receive. Take care of yourself as you accept God's blessings for you. Remember, God helps those who help themselves.
