Irresponsibility may manifest as abuse of any negative pattern. Drinking too much leads to giving up conscious control of your life and avoiding responsibility for yourself. Over-dependency on another human being -- a spouse, a lover, a child, a parent -- can create a tendency toward giving up responsibility for yourself. The example of drug abuse is a very obvious one. Often you deal with levels of irresponsibility that are very subtle. It is a wise approach to maintain control of your life, your choices and your decisions. Ultimately you are the only one who can decide the course of your life; and you are the only one responsible. Don't attempt to get someone else to make your decisions for you. You have to learn to read the signals your universe gives you. Learn to observe and select. It's called discernment.

While in our false-self state of awareness, we tend to focus on material things. We fantasize that if we had the right job, a great relationship, and enough money, life would be perfect. Ironically, the fulfillment of that "perfect-life" fantasy in reality has nothing to do with the outer world. Fulfillment is found in the contentment and joy we experience when we are living in the true self, irrespective of external conditions.

Those who are negative thrive on the attack. The more negativity you give them that has your Light and love in it, the more strong and righteous they feel. But what are they going to do for you after they have gone? Nothing. What are you going to do for yourself after they're gone? You're going to do bewilderment, confusion, and hurt; you're going to feel abandoned and separated from God and yourself; you're going to have difficulty finding life worth living. When you can put on the armor of the Spiritual Warrior, you can begin to protect and take care of yourself because you will not be duped into believing their illusions and negative view of things. You will be stronger in maintaining your own awareness of self and Spirit.

When we get to know who we are in the Spirit, and in the Soul, it's so much more beautiful and magnificent than what's here. As we know our life in the Spirit, the opposite sense may start taking place where we might wonder, "What am I doing here in this world when I can be there in Spirit?" In asking that question, there's a part of us that's not realizing the value of experiencing what's going on in this world. Every aspect of every experience can be utilized to expand and open into new awareness.

From Mozart and Einstein to Shakespeare and Emerson, from e.e. cummings to Lao-tzu and Joan of Arc -- each one tapped into a source, otherwise known as the Soul energy. The Soul, which is the omni-intelligence source, knows it all.

To discern truth, you can use your intelligence. Intelligence is the key to bypass your hang-ups and move into what is without judgments, prejudice, or the idea of personal gain.

It takes discernment to recognize the level of your enlightenment and then seek out those who can show you the next level. That part that is awake is the Soul. It never sleeps. It is in a constant state of pure awareness. The mind sleeps, the emotions sleep, the body sleeps. As you realize this, you wonder if you're really as great as you sometimes think you are. You're not great in the sense of your ego, but in the Soul you are far greater than you think you are.

By your works you will be known. You prepare your own feast, and you partake of your own feast. If you delay because you do not recognize your own worthiness, then there is no need to seek elsewhere. If you cannot find God within yourself, you will not find God anywhere else.
