In order to live a healthy, vibrant life, I would be sure to hold pictures in my mind that I want more of. I wouldn't hold other pictures. I just wouldn't do it. That doesn't mean that other images don't come into my awareness; it's just that I don't hold on to them. They come in and they go right on out, and I continue to hold only the pictures that I want.

At some point in your experiences and relationships, you are going to come across a line into the calm, quiet, and peacefulness of new experience. There is no emotion, there is no reference point, there is just that which is. From there, you can shift a step inward and start moving through the spiritual worlds and find there worlds without end. Where are you going? You say, "I'm going to the Supreme God, to give myself over to that." Then you say, "Put me where You want me as part of You." At that moment, you will have found your liberation.

When you are in the Soul, you can see more easily the pitfalls and the obstacles of your life on these lower levels. You can experience a love for and a oneness with other people that is beyond anything you've experienced before.

If you live in a house near beautiful woods, that could be quite nice. But suppose there is a dry season, no rain for many months, and then, as a result of someone's carelessness, a fire is started. The forest fire threatens and eventually burns your house. What do you do then? Curse the person who was careless as you stomp around the ashes of your memories? Or get it together, step by step, and call your insurance company, decide whether you want to rebuild there or move to another location, and get on with your life. Once you "get on with your life," you'll have the opportunity to learn that a physical object, even something as beautiful as your home by a forest, has no hold over you and that your freedom is within you, not attached to any physical or inanimate object. If you do, indeed, learn that, you will have an incredible source of power, which can be used to accomplish anything you choose.

It's so important that we let people know we're there for them. For example, if you walk into a store and you can't find someone to assist you, there is a good chance you'll walk out. Not because they were rude -- they weren't anything -- but they weren't there for you. If you do finally find someone, and they begrudgingly tell you what you need to know, you may say, "Oh, that's not quite what I had in mind," and walk out -- because they weren't there for you. When people give you information, and they're not present in their heart, you don't believe what they tell you. It's really important that we get that heart connection, which is beyond the intellect. In fact, it disrespects the intellect because, while you're saying that you will never do something again, your heart's got you doing it.

In the Bible, it is written, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17). That means we are always able to touch into God's kingdom. We are always connected to that loving presence inside. In the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness, we teach taking the shortcut to touch to the loving inside. We teach touching into the love right now in this breath and in every breath.

Why have joy? Why not have joy? It's fun when joy comes up as a profound, ecstatic feeling. Joy comes in and you start moving with fluidity inside you, so that people can even insult you and you still have joy. You are so joyful, you are happy just to get recognized. They thought they were insulting you, and you joyfully took it as recognition. It's a wonderful feeling.

In the physical realm, one quality is attention. You need to be actively involved in your life and to pay attention to what is going on around you. At the same time, the challenge is not to get caught up in thinking that the physical level is the entire truth about yourself, for it actually represents only 10 percent of your existence, the other 90 percent being on the nonphysical realms. You also need the quality of endurance to work through and overcome any obstacles to your spiritual progression and to get up one more time than you fall.

John-Roger, DSS
You don't forgive the other person for what you think they've done to you; rather, you forgive yourself for holding on to a judgment about what you think they did. And if you're the one who did something unloving to someone else, you use the same approach -- forgiving yourself for holding on to a judgment about your behavior.

We could say that your breath is a truth. You don't have to interpret it and it isn't based on your thoughts or feelings. Whatever is going on in Your Life, you breathe in and out. Sometimes you breathe quickly, sometimes slowly, but you are always breathing, until your time here is done. At that point, your breath isn't a present truth; something else will be truth for you. Holding on to anything, whether it's an inner revelation or your own breath, is futile. You can't even hold on to your physical form, for everybody is in the process of aging, regardless of what steps you take to deter the process.
