The best part of a spiritual approach to living is that it's all inside of us. Wherever we are, whatever we're doing, we can be leading an uplifting spiritual life. It's not about sitting on a meditation cushion (though that can be helpful when you set aside the time). It's not about being with the right group of people (though fellowship can be very supportive). It's not about the clothes you wear or the diet you eat. It's not about the shape of your body or where you live or work. It's not about what church, or mosque, or temple you belong to or how often you attend. You are the temple, the place of worship. All you need to do to realize that is to pay attention.

Love yourself even when you don't know what is going on. You can be everything you want to be as soon as you unconditionally become unconditional. There is no way you can separate yourself from love and maintain freedom. The only way is to love it all.

John-Roger, DSS
Prayer Father-Mother God, we partake in the greater loving that we call forward, especially in any way that, at this time, we are unable to accept. We hold it forth as a loving potential that is ever-increasing. We ask for Your strength, Your wisdom, and the correct discernment inside to always know the loving choice and to bring forward the willingness to be the loving, to choose the loving, regardless of the conditions. So be it.

John Morton, DSS
The very nature of the ego, its fundamental action, is to withdraw, to isolate, and to separate itself. It's the one who is self-obsessing and recoils from every opportunity to move into Soul. So if you ever say that you don't care about the Soul or Spirit, you might want to consider who inside of you is saying that.

I am really attempting to tell you the truth, but as soon as I talk about the invisible in terms of anything you can relate to in this world, you have to know that it is inaccurate because everything I say out of a physical body is an illusion. No matter how close I come to describing the spiritual levels, I cannot tell you how they really are because there are no words to describe what is going on there. Your own experience of these realms will be the best validation you can have of their existence.

There's a statement in the Bible, that you can't serve God and Mammon [Luke 16:13]. And Mammon can represent any of the things we put before God. This can include our doubt and our worry. So when these areas of contraction become the focus of your attention, it means you have taken the attention off God and placed it in the personality and material areas of this world -- effectively, you are worshiping that. All you have to do is say, "Okay, I've been in service to that, and I'm through with that form of service. Now I'm going to serve more of the higher vibration. I am going to serve Spirit."

Someone else's experience is always a reflection. Your own experience is your reality. The physical world is always a reflection. Your inner world is the reality.

As long as you believe your approval and affirmation must come from others, you are unlikely to have it. It's hard to get approval if you keep giving it away to others. You can give away love with no expectations, and it will come back a thousandfold. But you can't give away your self-worth and expect it to come back. The you deep down inside knows that you probably got their affection for following the rules they made, not for being the original you. The affection is for fulfilling that traditionally conditioned concept of being a good boy or good girl. Therefore, the affection is always theirs to give and take away if you don't behave according to the rules of their game. It is never yours as long as they can give it.

One of the wonderful things about having adversity, difficulties, and challenges is that they will often show you a deeper love, a deeper strength, something that you did not know existed until whatever it took to overcome those challenges showed you what you did not know about yourself and what you were seeking. You have within you what it takes to triumph. Knowing you will triumph is a blessing.

John Morton, DSS
Choose your choice and focus on what you want. You decide where to put your consciousness. Some people make choices and then wait for them to happen, wait for "manna to fall from the heavens." Well, there have been great spiritual beings who could precipitate things from the heavens. Jesus, through divine forces, may have fed the multitudes with loaves of bread and fish, and Moses may have tapped into the divine forces by manifesting things on the physical level. For "ordinary" mortals, however, it is important to consciously choose our choices by doing supportive, practical things that work. Yes, you actually do have divine energy within you. Even so, there are things to be done on this physical level, using your mind, body, and Soul. I once heard a saying: "Pray to God, but continue to row to shore."
