To know what is spiritual in a situation, you have to get above it, not run any of your own "stuff" on it, and move to a place of observation. If you would just enter into observation, you would be able to perceive so much more clearly. From that state of observation, you realize that there's nothing there. You have nothing to gain or lose one way or another, and it doesn't matter whether you are involved or not. You'll be able to see things really clearly, just for what they are. And if you don't see something clearly, you shouldn't assume anything about it, because as soon as you assume anything, you've moved out of observation and you have your own stuff mixed up in there.

Look at everything through love.

When you fall in love with the Beloved, you open yourself to limitless energy and your loving becomes a creative, dynamic, moving force in your life. You see that everything is perfect, and you know it to be so. Even if something goes a little haywire in your life, it's okay. You just let go of that and partake of what is immediately present for you. If something doesn't happen in exactly the timing you expected, you let go of your concerns and just flow with the timing as it appears.

To me, withholding is the foremost spiritual "sin" we can do to each other. Withholding often starts in the emotions: somebody says something to you and you do not like it, so you say to yourself, "Well, I just won't talk to that person." Pretty soon, you start withholding your body from them by not being around them. Then you can withhold information from them that they should know, which means they do not have the full picture of what is going on. This can happen in organizations and families and can be very undermining to the group. Rather than let that happen, keep up the communication.

Observation is a matter of staying within your own spiritual center, maintaining your awareness of yourself and of the spiritual power and protection available to you, and simply watching what happens in the outer environment.
