The Soul has complete independence from your mind and feelings. Align yourself with your Soul.

If you have a cold, you can curse the elements, blame the weather, and be very upset, but how does that help you or the cold? Another choice is to accept that you have a cold, do what is best under those conditions, and even enjoy it. How can you enjoy a cold? Well, instead of feeling resistant, angry, or upset, you might relax, rest, enjoy the respite from your normally busy workday, drink lots of fluids, watch a TV show or read a book, and generally just lie back and give your body time to recover. A cold can be your body's way of telling you that you need some more rest. Since you have little choice, why not enjoy the rest?

MSIA teaches the awakening in love. Other groups may teach awakening through anguish, pain, self-denial, abnegation, or fear. We don't teach that. There would be little joy in that path, and the presence of joy is one of the best indicators that the Spirit is present - joy and love.

Hold the image of what you want. On the physical, imaginative, and spiritual levels, create and express that which is positive and uplifting, and then you can reap what you have sowed: the abundance and joy that is your heritage.

Loving is the most important quality you can nurture in yourself.

John-Roger, DSS
It is important to see that you must go on, regardless of your attitude. You have at least two choices of attitude. You can go on crying, or you can go on laughing. If you have the choice (and you do), you might just as well go on laughing. It's more joyful. Spirit is joyful. The nature of the Soul is joyful. The personality isn't always joyful, but it is part of the illusions of the physical level.

Trust yourself. Trust God by claiming, "I know this is good." Then your identification can be in the clear knowing, "This is good. I am good. I am loyal to my Soul."

John Morton, DSS
To be whole means to have the choice of how we use our energy. Our energy is, perhaps, the most valuable thing that we have dominion over. We have just so much energy. It's as if we're born with a certain quotient, and how we use it is part of our freedom of choice. I expect that when we express in anger, greed, and lust, we expend enormous amounts of this energy. When we express loving care and consideration, I expect that our energy gets replenished, like getting interest from a savings account.

My teachers showed me that each Soul has an experience uniquely its own. No two journeys are alike. The experience that my Soul needs for its growth and expansion and discovery on the path home to God is not exactly what your Soul will need. Each path is individual. No one but you has authority over your Soul. You are the ultimate authority on yourself. Others can assist you. Others can point the way. But there is no one who will walk your path but you. Your Soul knows what you need to learn in this life. Your Soul knows what experiences you need to move closer to Spirit and God. If you choose those things, that is fine. If you choose other experiences, the Soul will learn from those, also, though the journey home may be a longer one. There is nothing wasted. There is nothing superfluous. The Soul will ultimately use every experience for your upliftment. In time, all will be used for good.

The path of knowing your own Soul, which we call Soul transcendence, is simple but not necessarily easy. This world is not eager to let you go and will tempt you to stay in illusion. Some of you may have a great deal of work to do to free yourself of the many levels on which addictions work. Know that you are never alone once you turn toward your spiritual home and begin to claim your divine heritage.
