This seminar is the epitome of practical spirituality because in it, John-Roger clearly lists the systems we have available to us for clear communication. For instance, he says this, “We have a real responsibility and an accountability to not confuse, to not be a show-off in terms of verbal output. We lose an awful lot of personal energy by verbalizing and if we put negativity on that information, we lose it even more. Have you ever found out that the more you bad mouth somebody or something, the more down you go? You go down.”
J-R begins his seminar with the assumption that if we are speaking to someone, “We want to give information to them, so we have the responsibility to get the information from our voice through the air to the other person in their space. And that may mean calling their name to get their attention.”
“Then,” he continues, “watch their eyes which tell you if you’re getting their focus of attention so that they listen to you. And then you have another responsibility that’s a little harder and that is to have them respond to the information so you know they got it! That completes the cycle of communication.”
After discussing those tricky areas of communication all of us find ourselves in from time to time, J-R speaks of how to create a safe space for ourselves and others. He says, “Can you create a safe place inside of you for people to talk to you? Your life will transform. You can keep it safe by being tender and loving in there. You can turn on the light of your own love and the safe place then becomes the loving place, doesn’t it?”
