March 2003 SAT | The Rules of Spiritual Awakening
Man is to have joy and have it more abundantly. Those who follow the Traveler know exactly that’s what it is. In the midst of hurt there is joy. In the midst of anguish, crying out “Oh my God, I’m all alone,” the joy inside you says “No, you’re not.”
John-Roger, in this gentle seminar, talks to us about the spiritual rules we must follow to find out we’re not the prodigal son — yet simultaneously we are — but the good news is we’re on the return trip coming back home. In his words, “No man walks into the darkness alone. The light of God will go with you. But it is of such a nature that it will not let you know of its existence in you until you confess that it can exist in you. It’s a funny paradox. The rules of mankind do not work when it comes to spiritual awakening. If you learn nothing else from me, please learn that.”
J-R also reminds us to look at who we really are. In the midst of what we want, what we desire, what we lust, things that we know aren’t good for us, we still pursue them to get them out of our system. But by doing that, are you setting yourself up for reincarnation? At some point, you must confess to yourself that there’s more to you than the food you eat, your emotions, your thoughts. Letting the spirit reign within awakens you to your peace, who you really are.
He closes this seminar with simple, yet profound, truths that he loves to tell us. “Not one soul is going to be lost. . . . God loves all of Its creation. . . . Out of God comes all things. . . . You won’t be given anything you can’t handle. . . . I am always with you.
