Our karma will keep us in place, having great potential, God potential, and yet it can also keep us in a lesser form according to what we need to learn. Personal responsibility includes whatever has accrued negatively. We've often accrued our learnings in unnecessary ways by not making the best choices that were available. Sometimes we think, "I already got the lesson." Perhaps our past choices reveal a repeated disregarding of what we knew was best so that worse and worse choices are the result. We go through experiences until we learn so completely that we stop making the choices that don't work. That's the angel at the gate to hell.
