The Soul, which is your greatest reality, is perfect. You are already perfect in who you are and what you are.

John-Roger, DSS
This process of spiritual exercises (s.e.'s) is much like going into a gas station to put gasoline in the car: while you are chanting your tone, in essence, you are filling up the gas tank, adding oil, checking the battery, washing the windows, seeing that there is air in the tires. All of these necessities are being taken care of. So there is a lot of activity going on during s.e.'s. The mind often goes here and goes there, the emotions are out there, and you may think, "I'm not getting anywhere." You are filling up the gas tank, cleaning the windows, checking the battery, and so on. It's not very often that in the process of doing spiritual exercises you will consciously Soul travel. It's rare. But at night when you go to sleep, we kick over the motor, and away we travel. Then you may wake up in the morning and find you are almost out of gas. You think, "What happened?" What happened is that we were using your energy, your "gasoline," to get going and travel. You may think, "I can hardly get out of bed." Fill up the gas tank. "What do I do?" Start chanting again. You say, "Was I clear full of gas before I went to bed last night?" No, you were about three-eights full, so we could only take you so far because we had to leave enough so you could get out of bed in the morning. "How do I get full?" Chant twenty-four hours a day. Continually be chanting. Continually be filling up with gas. Isn't that the smartest thing to do?

Question: I'm interested in meeting the Mystical Traveler inwardly and traveling out of my body. How can I best use the Sound Current I hear to move my consciousness away from my body? Answer: What you are seeking to find actually takes place within you all the time. In reality, what you are learning to do is to become more aware of the times when you travel out of your body. This occurrence is not some action that is separate from you although many people have the mistaken concept that Soul awareness or the Traveler consciousness are something that takes place in an altered state of consciousness. It can take place while you are washing dishes, typing a letter or talking to a friend. It is a process of becoming more aware of who you truly are.

Asking for help is asking for your potential to activate. How much potential? It's as unlimited and complete as God. Can you get God? Yes. All of God? Yes. Total God? Yes - but not more than you can handle. So you best get on with handling what is yours so you can handle more of what God has in store.

John Morton, DSS
"Regardless of the circumstances" is the key here. Let's say the quality you want more of is happiness. If, for you, happiness depends on meeting the right person, or having the right job, or earning enough money, then your happiness is conditional. That's impractical spirituality - living from the outside in. Practical spirituality is just the opposite - living from the inside out. True happiness isn't conditional; it doesn't depend on circumstances being just right.

Many people, when they hear of spiritual things, mistake the quality of a spiritual life with being "kooky" when, in the greater reality, it is the only natural thing there is. Everything else could be considered the "kooky" area. The only qualities that endure are the spiritual qualities. All other qualities dissolve and disappear. When you start exploring the inner consciousness, the inner Spirit that allows each person to exist as a special individual, you start finding a treasure chest of love, understanding, faith, hope, charity.

John-Roger, DSS
If you can stop for a moment in your thinking and your questing and listen to the silence, you may start becoming aware of many levels of consciousness. You may become aware that you are on all levels of Light simultaneously. The trick is to learn to shift your awareness to where you wish to be.

John-Roger, DSS
When you act out of the false self, there are all sorts of things you feel you must do, and they all take energy from you. When you live out of the true self, you draw on a source of infinite energy. But as soon as you give attention to your true self, your false self is likely to say, "Hey, what about me," and do anything it can to drag you back into the exterior senses. The true self doesn't say, "What about me?" The true self knows we must eventually return to it, so it is patient. It can wait, because it is eternal. The false self may be patient for a while, but it can't wait for long before it has to do something, then something else, and then something else. Living out of the false self, we become fragmented and procrastinate, not finishing what we started. Then we feel frazzled because life isn't going the way we think it should. When we finally look at the mess we've created, we once again rush to judge. But as we've seen, judgment is a serious matter. In judging our experience, we separate ourselves from our own divinity.

A great deal of the stress that people suffer is a result of not living right now, of being totally occupied with the past or the future. This is the cause of so many troubles. When you cut out your concern for the future and your remembrance of the past, you are right here, now. Many people try to remember to be here now. However, when they try to remember, the very act of remembering throws them out of the now. If you stop remembering, or you forget to remember, and just be here now, you are in good territory. Hold yourself in the now. There is nothing in existence other than right now.

John-Roger, DSS
A part of you always knows the truth. It knows whether you really finished cleaning the car. It knows whether you really did stick to your diet. It knows whether you did 20 push-ups or 15. It knows whether you did one hour of meditation or spiritual exercises, or 30 minutes, no matter what you say to yourself. When you commit to doing something, you don't have to give in to your "won't" power and fall short. Instead, you can use your energy, your willpower, to complete it.
