One attitude that you can take when you have caused yourself pain and discomfort through your actions, is one of a quietness and a serenity that can sustain you through almost anything. Focus on the moment without looking ahead to next week or next month or next year. Just hold yourself present in the now - at each point - and deal with whatever presents itself to you in the moment.

Difficulty comes if people remember the past and the sweetness of it and then try to make it work for today. Difficulty also comes if people project out into the future and try to make it happen in a particular, preconceived way, or if they look forward in fear to what might occur. If you cut out the apprehension of the future and the memories of the past, you are experiencing the present.

Sure, you might get upset sometimes. Sure, you might get hurt sometimes. But you don't have to hold on to it forever and ever. You can own up to it, let it go, and move on. In Soul, you step free from the past.

We have a totality of beingness that is entirely present right now. There is no need to go into tomorrow or dwell on yesterday. The only reality present is here and now.

You stop fixations of the past by not entering into reverie and memory of the past. You stop fixations of the future by not moving into fantasy and wishful thinking about what's coming up. You live now, entirely present and participating in each moment of your life, and your life just unfolds to you in the way that is right and proper for you.

God is always at ease, always present, always now, and is constantly creating and expanding.

If you attempt to move back into an experience of yesterday, even if that experience was pleasurable, you may find it gone. And if you persist in your attempt to recapture that, you experience frustration and, very often, pain and confusion. Many people encounter great difficulty in attempting to live somewhere other than now.

You can look forward to pleasurable things and nice sensations in the future, but claim your happiness now.

Whatever has happened in the past, with whomever, over whatever, is past. It is as simple as that because it's past. And whether they were right or they were wrong, whether you did it or you didn't do it, whether they did or they didn't - this is absolutely immaterial. I wouldn't even discuss it with you; I wouldn't waste my time to dignify garbage. And I suggest that you don't, either.

God dwells in each of us, and works through us all when we are willing. When you stay present, in the moment, taking care of what comes your way to the best of your ability, keeping your heart open, and asking for God’s assistance and blessing in all you do or say, then you are in good territory.
