Isn't it possible for you to say, "Honey, I'm a little off today, so please understand that I love you even if I may be a little impatient." The child may not understand all the words, but he will get the sharing on a level that's important. When you share your own human frailty, your child also gets that it is okay for him not to be "perfect" also.
