John-Roger begins his seminar by remembering his years as a high school teacher. "A lot of these kids would come in my room reeking of smoke and other things, and I'd say, 'Get out of here! Because this is a place of learning. Other people are sensitive to the smoke, so don't smoke before you come into this class!' Amazingly, some of the youngsters later came up to me and said, 'You know, I really hated your guts' And I'd say to them, 'I knew you'd stop smoking if somebody said to knock it off.' Of course, I knew that if you yell at somebody like that, it must be just be your mouth that yells, not your soul or your heart. "
With this story, J-R begins a seminar in which he makes very clear how we can take responsibility for our own maturing up — our evolution — into the people we were born to be. The maturing process includes making sure we respond to things that happen with our heart, not with our reactive emotions; and that we be honest in our communications. "The state of evolvement," J-R says, "is being able to move from point to point at a minute's notice."
Here's the model J-R holds out for each of us. "Healthy people, living together, listening to each other in a consciousness of love and communication and attentiveness. This breeds healthy families. People live healthier and happier and the wealth comes about because of it."
