A Trip on the Orient Express on the Mystical Traveler Tour with John-Roger

A surprise day-long trip to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England. We leave from the hotel at 7:00 am, take a bus to Victoria Station, and then board the Orient Express train. We have the carriage named “Lucille” all to ourselves. Built in the 1920’s, it is spectacularly gorgeous and ornate, with mosaics on the bathroom floor, wood paneling, tuxedoed waiters and fine china. We arrive at Chatsworth, have high tea with sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, etc., and then tour Chatsworth House, home of the Duke of Devonshire (although we’re actually in Derbyshire). (A bit of trivia: it’s right near the burial place of Kathleen Cavendish, sister of John F. Kennedy, and he visited there just before his own death.) A Bollywood film is being made at Chatsworth starring Riteish Deshmukh, a big star in India, who walks and chats with us on a break in filming (he’s the guy in the striped pajamas). As we tour the house a pianist just happens to be playing the intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, the background music for J-R’s “Our Song of Love.” Then it’s back to the train for the 5-hour return trip and we’re in bed by 11 pm.
