John Morton’s Open Seminar, San Francisco December 11, 2010

As I drove into San Francisco through the misty rain I’m listening to the sound of a Hip Hop version of Sting’s song “I’ll be watching you”. I’m sure the radio station was thinking about Santa and how we need to be ‘good for goodness sake’ and yeah, that’s a good enough reason not just for this season, all seasons.

The evening began with Paul Conway as our MC and Suzanne Webb calling in the Light. Our very own local vocalist, Rona Forster wrote and performed an adorable rendition of ‘Let It Snow ‘, to the chorus of ‘Chant Your Tone, Chant Your Tone, Chant Your Tone.’ A great reminder any time….. especially while walking the shopping malls.

A tremendous talent Taras Lumiere sang a song he wrote, inspired by a day spent with a child in his life. The song was called “I Welcomed The Child”. The instrumentals included a tapestry of an Indian-sounding harmonics, acoustic guitar, violin and his yummy voice. The audience was included in both chorus of men and women singing along …..’Oh my soul’ for women and ‘Go on, Go on , Beyond’ for men. Exquisitely done, sweetly sung.

When Paul introduced John Morton, he asked us to recall an inner experience or a special moment we’ve had with John. As I started writing, the tears streamed down my face, so grateful for what John has shared with us and for my memory of special moments with him.

John began with the thought of being thankful, and as we are thankful for whatever is going on in our life we are happy and as we are happy it’s reflected with others. He continued a reading from the ‘Book of Scrooge’ or the proper name ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. He talked about the story of Ebineser Scrooge, considering we do not need to return to the past, we simply align to our destiny of who we are regardless, even if we are a so called ‘sinner’. The Spirit within wipes away the things we forgive about ourselves, leaving a place of peace inside us allowing freedom to reign.

He reminded us the spiritual presence is always here to assist us to take the negativity away. Are you willing? Are you available? Bring your courage, openness, humbleness and your YES. Because the Kingdom is at hand, it is up to you to partake in the consciousness that’s available to you, the Beloved, the Soul, the true self which is positive. Focus on the Light, not the darkness. Change our intent to be forever illuminated to see the positive to see that we are divine. Claim our divinity and fill ourselves with forgiveness. Find the good, become the good.

John reminded us the Secret of Soul Transcendence is to see the good in people and things and leave all the rest to God. We don’t need to wait until Christmas morning, we can move into seeing each person as a Living Present.

And I will end with a quote from the character Tiny Tim from Charles Dickens’ book, ‘God Bless Us, Everyone”.

  1. Our Northern California family made the event warm, and welcoming. John Morton, as usual, was great! We laughed, listened, and were lifted to a very special place by our Traveler. Thank you to everyone who created this exquisite experience.
