What can possibly be said to describe the DSS1 experience? It’s like a tool kit that meets you where you are and helps you release what holds you back from Spirit and helps you lift higher.
The first thing to say is that the Doctor of Spiritual Science is an experiential course and involves doing rather than reading about theories. It’s layered up so that each person designs their own unique path using a framework. The framework comprises physical, emotional, mental and spiritual and all the combinations of these aspects of ourselves. Without giving any spoilers, I started by observing my patterns and behaviours and engagement in these aspects and later in the 9 month program, started considering changes I wanted to make.
In 9 months a lot has changed. Actually, the core of me hasn’t changed but the true spiritual me has emerged releasing some of the outer stuff that no longer serves me. I will share something from each aspect to give you a flavour of my journey and know that each student, like each Hu-man on the planet, would report a different experience.
In the physical I set an intention to weigh below a certain weight. During the first 6 months I mainly observed my physical behaviours, emotions, mental inner dialogue and spiritual interactions with food, consumption and my weight. After Spiritual Exercises my temperature drops and it was a fine time to consume hot chocolate. In the last 3 months I started making tiny and consistent changes and I reached my target in the week before month 9.
Emotionally, I became very aware of how impatience penetrated so many aspects of my life. By month 9, Spirit gave me so much to practice with that I ended up laughing. I feel I am calmer and more patient than I was, still with plenty of room for further development. I call this a target rich environment!
Mentally, I am a bit more selective about what I listen to internally. I observed an incessant hamster wheel of jibber jabber going over and over a particular topic. I started to observe, then moved to acceptance, and on a really good day I release it and move to something else.
Spiritually, who has the words to describe this? The feel of the energy, clarity and focus in my life has changed significantly. Prior to DSS1, I painted the head of a wolf using acrylic paints on a 1.5 x 1 metre canvas. Her name is Willow and she took about 8 months from start to finish.
At some point during the DSS1, I decided to incorporate my artwork into my ministry and was able to paint a 1 metre square Tiger, called Terrance in 4 weeks, plus a week to pluck up enough courage to do the whiskers. This alignment allows the energy to flow through me into charcoal and painted images.
What I most appreciated about the DSS1 was the cohesive dedication of the team responsible for the program. The timings, delivery and provision of materials were meticulously planned and on the odd occasion something slipped through the net, it got fixed with enthusiasm. Those facilitating the course live, online, did the course along side us, only a week or 2 ahead so that everything shared were real, current examples. I found this sharing inspiring, humbling and encouraging.
I loved the experience and can tell you there is nothing intellectual about this program. It feels like it’s a Doctorate because you need to show up and be consistent and do scientific observations on yourself. The subject, or content of the DSS is you, or in my case, me. I have learnt a lot, released a lot and loved a lot. Along with about 65 other people on Zoom, including assistants, technical folk and translators, I was able to do exercises that were profound, working with partners and groups in break out rooms.
Participating from England meant a few very late nights, or early mornings and my mental attitude to sleep and awakeness has adapted with time. Every support and assistance was given to those of us working in different time zones and recordings were available for the 2-4am session (my time in England) which I abandoned or slept through on a few occasions.
Having said all this, the journey was deeply sacred and private. I give huge thanks to my reader, who just held the space, witnessed and added beautiful images and emojis to my written home play. It definitely took commitment to my Self (yes I am using a capital S), and a level of dedication and devotion which is an ongoing adventure for my upliftment.
Here’s to every one of you who participated in the program and my love and thanks to you all for making this such a special first year. Thank you J-R, John Morton for your dedication to Traveler sharings, and every member of the team, you know who you are!
See you in DSS Year 2!
God bless you all.
Love and Light,
Caroline
