“Practically, the spiritual heart becomes something you choose. It is the intelligent choice. It’s the right thing to do. You just know it.” – John Morton
This article is taken from one of John’s sharing sessions with a Doctor of Spiritual Science class in June 2021.
One thing I see as the teachings is the spiritual heart. Those are nice words, but what does that mean? It means the knowing and knowledge of who we are. When we really clarify that, it is who we are spiritually, because that’s the part that is eternal.
In dealing with the psychic material conditionality, it comes into a distortion, a misperception. It comes into something like thinking, which is more like an opinion. It is an interpretation, but it doesn’t necessarily have the whole. It has part. There is another part that is illusion, which goes away. Illusion returns to the nothingness from which it came. That includes unworthiness. It’s “no thing.”
Why do we frequent it, persist and indulge in it, and act like that’s who we are? If I know, at some level, unworthiness is not who I am, then why do I think of myself as unworthy? At some point it’s, “If you want to, you are free to do it because you are a creator. That is who you are.”
Practically, the spiritual heart becomes something you choose. It is the intelligent choice. It’s the right thing to do. You just know it. Maybe you know it unconsciously. Some people make that wrong. It must be, “you know.” The idea is that it originally exists. If it does, we can experience it.
The spiritual heart is an original state. We are finding out what already is, hopefully at a conscious level. It does not care if you have proof. Its truth is independent of all. It does not need a witness. It is true.
You can access it through faith. Make sure it is something that appears to you as what you would want. Why trust? You might think, “I’m a bad person. I’ll never make it. I’ll never amount to anything. What if my basic, original condition is sin? I’ve sinned. I have made bad choices. Once I made those bad choices, it was all over.”
You have not used good sense. If you are going to have faith in yourself, you’re going to have a trust in yourself. Trust toward the good saying, “I am a good person. I’m adorable and worthy of love. I am bound to my trust.”
You sometimes forget your place because you are in this human condition that forgets. There is what the Traveler is doing with people, re-membering you. How does the Traveler remember us? The Traveler knows and addresses you as who you are, regardless of how you address yourself. In the mirror of somebody like the Traveler, you are addressed as adorable, beautiful, precious and lovable. You get into that frequency of someone looking at you like you are adorable.
Meanwhile, if we are doing misdeeds, meaning you missed and still do the action, we have responsibility because that is who we are. We take responsibility for those choices. We find out eventually, “Regardless of what I do, I am still who I am. I can’t mess with who I am.”
Who you are stays pure and clear, full of love because it is God consciousness. Then what is going on? Somehow you lost your way. You forgot. We forget who we are. We forgot where we came from.
We can wake up to what I call “return.” What does that mean? Maybe turn around. What does “return” say? It says it is an a- round, like a circle. It’s in a circle – all directions. What about a sphere? That is a three-dimensional circle. Wherever you look, your purity, preciousness and lovable nature is still present. At the center of the circle, the center of the sphere, is who you are.
Wherever you look, who you are has evolved. Who you are is in movement, not stationary like a point. Even if it is at a point like a star, the whole universe is moving. What that does is allow for something to stay in relationship to something else.
The stars are created and still being created in worlds without end. How does that work? It works in expansion and increasing. It is an active living creator still creating. It is not finite. You may ask, “How would I be a part of the infinite, which is also eternal and the eternally traveling consciousness?”
That is what you are. Just be aware of what that is. If it’s in the center of the circle, the center of the sphere, that is within. If we seek it within, we find the kingdom is there and it is infinite. You are a part of the whole thing, God consciousness. If you are part of the whole thing, you have the whole thing in you.
What does that say about unworthiness? No-thing. What is it? It’s just something you put out as an attitude, a way of thinking. It doesn’t represent who you are. The good news in that is an awareness that would tell you that is not who you are. Who you are is clear, whole and complete.
When people want to make something finite or fixed, it’s not. It’s moving. Be in that movement. Release your limitations. They are self-imposed so the last limitation is what you impose on yourself. You can release your limitation to be with God. Release. Relax. Be open so you are not contracted or closed. Who you are is not closed. It is open, growing and expanding. It is moving.
It’s all good. It comes only from good. Even if you found the least good, it’s still good. It is in your favor and blessing you. That’s another attitude to keep. “I’m going to look at this as if I am blessed,” even if it doesn’t feel that way in the moment. John-Roger called that the “Secret of Soul Transcendence.”
If you are in a consciousness that is not seeing and beholding good and divine, then look. You can look. That is an attitude. “I am looking for the good.” Look past whatever you think is bad. Keep looking.
You are a good person. Look for what shows that to you. If you have that attitude, you are going to create good. In the Scriptures, it says, “as a man thinketh in his heart, so he becomes.” [Proverbs 23:7] It crosses over to whatever gender there is. If you are going to think that, do you want to become that? That is the golden rule. “Do unto others as you would want to be done unto.” If you don’t like yourself, get a better attitude. It’s not intelligent to not like yourself.
John-Roger told us that energy follows thought. When you are thinking, you are an energy field. Your energy is going to go toward that thought. It’s in your heart. It is going to go toward that. If it’s in your heart, it looks like a seed. What are you planting? What are you sowing here? Lousy ideas and stinking thinking? Is that what you want to create?
What you are holding, what you’re “selling”, what you are thinking and focus upon attracts to you in the exact nature of what that is. There is the law, the causal law. What you put out comes around.
I see that as perfectly fair. It helps us realize how we are doing, what our life is reflecting and bringing to us. Life is reflecting and showing you what you are creating. If you don’t like it, have the wit to let that form of creation go. Move yourself into a form of creation that is going to attract what you want. I’d say that is a really great deal.
If you think about it, all we have to do is think in the ways we want that would make it better. Your life is going to become something you look forward to. I have called it out as, “The best is yet to come.”

The Best is Yet to Come
Dear Lord,
We welcome Your presence this day
And Your blessings this day
For all who are gathered with us
Wherever we are in the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness
That we are Your bearers of light and love and sound
We do this through the Christ and the Holy Spirit
And with the Traveler Consciousness working with us in all levels
We welcome this presence through the clearing, through the healing
Through whatever is needed
And also to bring Your grace and Your ease into our midst
That we may share it openly and it may be spread
To everyone and everything
As Your will is being done
In this day we find Your mercy, your grace, your forgiveness
You comfort us and inspire us in these ways
Wherever we are, whatever is taking place
This blessing can be awakened in all of us at all times
Serving the highest good
With each breath, with each moment
We find new opportunities already prepared
To remind us the best is yet to come. From Blessing This Day
