Seeing the Many Faces of Christ

A Seminar and Q&A from MSIA’s Spiritual Director John Morton – May 30, 2015.

A bright array of radiant faces filled the foyer of Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens (“Prana”) last Saturday on yet another beautiful Los Angeles morning, expecting to See the Many Faces of Christ. Without a doubt, each of them did, as well as those who were tuned in online.

Matt VanFossan started off by inviting the day’s hosts, Danielle Peterson and Usman Mustafa, up to the stage. After calling forward the Light, attendees were treated to two diverse creative contributions. First, Prana resident Elizabeth Spanton recited her inspiring original poem, “Christed Friends,” that perfectly encapsulated the blessing of being a student—and friend—of the Traveler.

“Christed Friends”

By Elizabeth Spanton

You invite me to remember that I am in a glorious Spirit City,
Not the Dream City full of good and evil that I am passing through.

You let me taste the true Friendship of God Love.

You lead me to my inner teacher
To listen to Spirit.

You help me see that form is just
The clothes of Spirit

You help me rest my lower appetite and
Feed on Wisdom.

You challenge me to lift
My pettiness, my lack of self-worth.

You expose me
To the Divine Me.

You teach me to ask forgiveness,
 To open the
Eyes of my heart.

You crush my intellectual swimming,
Put me into the ark with Jesus.

You show me Light that is not of this earth,
Tell me, “Seek sanctuary in the Name.”

In Return:

I would be faithful
 Keep the Presence from being
Interrupted.
Be loud silence, listening.
Be contemplative joy,
Not an empty reed but sugarcane for you.
I was fire, but now I would be Light for you.

I would lead you to the Friend who gives fullness, without food,
Roses and wild flowers without Spring,
Healing without medicine,
Instruction without books.
By my side, you would gather pearls by the bucket full.
Yes, I would be your friend, your precious friend,
Beloved of God.

Then, the talented Alethea Lamb played a haunting meditative improvisation on clarinet, with an Indian tamboura drone in the background.

Following three video excerpts on the topic of the Christ Consciousness, featuring MSIA’s Founder John-Roger in the Holy Land, it was time for John Morton to share with all those gathered. He explained the meaning behind “The Many Faces of Christ” by invoking the biblical verse, “When you have done it to the least of my brethren, you have done it unto me,” which is part of the living principles of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness. John reminded us that, through our origins, we are all the Christ.

John spoke of the Father loving us in our ordinary, human nature, even during our worst moments (which may or may not be tracked and scaled on an official list). In considering “what will you choose this day?” we were encouraged to choose the highest consciousness, without limits, regardless of past choices, and to know that the Beloved is here and present now.

After a blessing, John opened up the sharing to those in person and online. He fielded questions ranging from spiritual exercises to the angelic kingdom, to clearing karma and the Cosmic Christ; gracefully honored Light requests, both personal and for such situations as the current California drought; and closed with another beautiful blessing.

Indeed…it was a blessed day filled with the Many Faces of Christ.
