Soul Initiation: Sweet Sounds of Love at MSIA’s Conference of Coming Home

Article imageWhat a glorious and profound evening of music and wisdom we all had at the new MSIA workshop “Soul Initiation: The Science and Practice of the Names of God,” at MSIA’s Conference of Coming Home. Our hostess, Candace Semigran, introduced John Morton’s free public workshop. Throughout the evening, oldtimers and newcomers were lulled and soothed by a perfect blend of wonderful John-Roger excerpts intermingled with the moving music of the Moody Blues — favorite songs of John Morton’s, as well as many of us in the room. The packed ballroom at the Sheraton Universal Hotel was filled with the our spontaneous sing-a-longs in this most beautiful way to practice Soul Transcendence.

Soul Initiation is about fulfilling the spiritual promise, the promise of returning home to God that we all share as Divine beings in this world. In this magical evening, we learned that coming home to God is about listening within. We can do this through Spiritual Exercises. And, we discovered joyfully, from music that moves our hearts.

John first introduced Ani Hu, the ancient name of God that brings forth the quality of empathy and Oneness. As we practiced Spiritual Exercises by chanting the Ani Hu all together, the lights dimmed. The ballroom hummed with the moving sound of our loving harmony. Audio recordings from seminars by John-Roger then raised our awareness of how feelings of separation, our doubts and worries, can be released by doing Spiritual Exercises. The J-R excerpts reminded us to go inside to find our Soul while the songs from the Moody Blues moved us right along, echoing J-R’s messages. As J-R reminded us to come home to our Soul inside, the sounds and words of the Moody Blues took us there.

At the end of this medley, we all chanted the Ani Hu once again leaving us feeling the warmth and comfort of our Oneness.

John Morton then took questions from the audience. We learned that a way to prevent our emotions from running us is to do S.E.’s (Spiritual Exercises). John suggested doing S.E.s right away, before our emotions can catch up with us, so we can gain a better perspective on our concerns. We learned that MSIA has been known as a group of non-joiners — people looking for greater spiritual awareness but not necessarily wanting to be tied to one particular path. Folks can chant the Ani Hu and still follow other religious practices that work well for them. MSIA has an open door policy. People are welcome to check out the teachings brought forward by the Mystical Traveler Consciousness and to use what works for them to help raise their awareness of their Soul. An assortment of great study materials were available in the Products Store at Conference for those interested in learning more about Soul Initiation, chanting tones, and doing Spiritual Exercises.

At the end of our evening, John came into the audience and mingled with us as we all shared hugs and smiles. No one was running to leave the Ballroom. Instead, caught by the Spirit, we reveled gratefully in the joy of this splendid time together.
