Celebrating the Blessings of Passover with John Morton

Article imageA festively-dressed crowd of people gathered in the Brentwood Ballroom at the 2101 Wilshire building in Santa Monica, California, and on the Internet to share in the blessings of Passover with John Morton on April 17th.

Following a warm introduction by our MC for the evening, Nan Sexton, and a moving musical performance by Greg Blanchard, John shared with us an uplifting blend of scripture and personal sharing. This was an evening rich in blessings and higher perspective. What follows is one reporter’s experience of what John shared with us:

As is traditional on Passover, John related to us the Passover story. Probably like many folks in the room and tuning in via the Internet, I listened to this story as I had listened to it many times before and since childhood. What made this night special was that this was the first time I caught the spiritual significance of the story as it relates to the teachings of the Traveler.

John shared with us that in MSIA, we focus on the Resurrection part of the story; we put our focus on the living Spirit, as a direct experience. We live our life in a connection to God that we claim through the Traveler. Part of what is here for us to do is to surrender this world; to let go of it. It doesn’t mean that while we’re here we no longer have any responsibility or nothing to do. If anything, what it means is we have greater responsibility to do something good while we are here.

John noted that we are to establish a kingdom of Grace inside, and it’s up to us to decide how we go about that. One important message of Passover is to choose forgiveness—to forgive anything that has happened to us or that we have done to ourselves.

John demonstrated the love of the Traveler as he opened up the evening to take questions from people in the audience, discussing a variety of topics including the need to cooperate with our nature, that we have a responsibility to choose loving and stop the negativity, to be aware that the negative power tests us, and that one way we can connect with the Holy Presence of Spirit at any time is through breathing.

John noted that what matters is that we open ourselves up and let God speak to us inside, and on that note he closed the evening with a demonstration of the love of God and the Traveler by sharing a blessing with us. The seminar was a perfect prelude to the coming weekend’s events, including an MSIA Initiates’ Workshop and Easter Sunday seminar. As folks made their way home, it felt as if the Traveler came and graced each one of us, parting waters of disturbance and bringing the healing flow of Spirit and love. How wonderful to know this love is available to us all the time, as we have the awareness to choose it and share it, loving ourselves and each other.

John Morton is also the author of The Blessings Already Are, available at your favorite online or local bookseller. John offers monthly Internet Q&A webcast seminars, held in Santa Monica and simulcast on the Internet at www.msia.org/live. The next Internet Q&A is scheduled for Thursday, May 22 at 7:30pm Pacific time. Come and join us! God bless you.
