“I Am With Thee” — Family Thanksgiving at the Home of the Traveler

It’s early Thanksgiving morning as I stir in my bed waking up and realizing that in just a few hours I will be at Prana and having the time of my life with my brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles preparing a feast for the family that will be gathered later that day. I jumped out of bed with excitement and enthusiasm and ready to have fun. Because after all it’s what I like best. One of our beloveds, Marsha Scott, arrived around 7:45 a.m. to pick me up and we were on our way to Prana.
When we arrived at Prana we sat in the car for a moment of peace going over a song we were to sing together. We decided that throughout the day during our work we would stop for a song break to practice until it was time to perform. In the meantime, I was assigned to my favorite place of all — the Prana kitchen! Many a good story and many laughs have taken place in the Traveler’s kitchen.
Our team gathered together, we called ourselves forward into the light and got our assignments. We went right to work, and we were busy little bees from then on, as were many other festivity teams throughout the house. There were people working in every area inside and outside to transform it into a Thanksgiving oasis of peace, joy, and loving tranquility.
The large and small seminar rooms, the foyer and the courtyard were full with warm, inviting, festive tables. It was indeed a beautiful day to dine outside also. Everyone pulled out their toolbox full of talent, skills, and abilities and served at what they do best. Karl Fledderman headed up the kitchen crew and we started off with a blast. There was lots of chopping, mixing, blending, whipping ,baking, heating, stirring, tasting (we like that part) and music from “O’ Brother Where Art Thou”. Lots of laughing, giggling; shouting for more of this or that, and “check my ovens!” What are my ovens doing shouts the chef! People pulling food out, putting food in the ovens and the stove tops were brimming with pots, skillets and pans OH MY !! And it just kept getting better and better. OOPPs! Time for a song break, a glass of water, and a quick bathroom break. I was having the time of my life.
As the time drew closer for our family to start arriving we were all asked to get ourselves prepared. Marsha and I grabbed another song break. As people arrived they were escorted to the courtyard and the rotunda where they enjoyed refreshments.
It was time for dinner to be served. We gathered around the labyrinth and Jsu Garcia called us forward Into the Light in his own special way. We gave thanks and praise for this day of gratitude and blessings. We then moved towards the dining room for the best meal in town. There was a huge banquet table full of Thanksgiving delights prepared to perfection. There was also a pyramid banquet of mouth watering, eye-popping desserts finely decorated by our own Carol Jones, Mistress of the Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens. Everything was such a feast for the eyes right down to the last detail with great excellence. The family energy in the house was peaceful, loving, giving, and receiving.
After dinner we all gathered in the large seminar room where our beloved John-Roger was dining with us. We prepared for the Thanksgiving entertainment hosted by Kevin McMillian and Jsu Garcia. That alone would tell you we were about to have a great time and more laughter than we knew.
It was a one of those days where everyone was funny. More to the point, Paul Kaye and Jsu got off to quite a start. Those wanting to entertain were asked to come up after being selected via muscle testing by our DSS Students Jsu and Kevin. I was laughing so hard that I barely had enough saliva left when it was my turn to sing. Marsha Scott and yours truly got up and did a beautiful Thanksgiving song about the pilgrims sailing towards this country to settle here. It’s entitled “I am with thee”. I must say, that was the theme of the day.
The entire day we were filled with spirit’s champagne. Joy and laughter was present in everything and everyone. It was very special and more so because our beloved J-R was there. We were serenaded by Erik Albrecht, Nathanial Sharratt, our beautiful French Chefs Claudie and Guilliame Bott
