A Vintage Initiates Meeting at the Conference of Gratitude — The Traveler at Its Best

If you have ever listened to the Initiates tapes (and if you’re an initiate, why haven’t you?) you will have heard John-Roger answering the kinds of questions you just might have yourself. For those of you who thought those kinds of initiates seminars were only held in the 1970’s & 80’s, and for those of you who thought J-R had quietly slipped into retirement, boy are you in for a surprise.

J-R followed his A+ performance at the Ministers Meeting with an A++ performance at the Initiates Meeting. Plus we had John Morton with him to add perspective and spicy comments.

The meeting actually started a few minutes early with some Ani Hu chanting. And if you haven’t ever heard close to 900 initiates chanting in a single room, well, let’s just say it’s quite an experience.

Then John Morton, in what used to be rare comedic form but was his signature for the entire Conference week, introduced Jsu Garcia who shared the trailer for the movie he and J-R wrote called Spiritual Warriors. And while many of us had already seen it once or twice over the week, comments were heard that it got better and more intriguing with each showing. (We’re ready to see the movie. Jsu said they were shooting for an October release.)

MC John Morton then brought up Nat Sharratt and Brad Pie to play one of the songs from Nat’s new album, Walkin’ In Paradise. Rather than try and describe it, we just suggest you get yourself a copy (available through MSIA here) and prepare for a treat.

Then it was down to business as J-R joined John on stage and the questions began. John asked how many were at their first initiates meeting and a good number of hands rose. These were the folks who John started choosing from, and he and J-R loved people past their blocks and limitations in the way only the Traveler can. If this sounds vague, you’ve never seen J-R and John share. And if you have experienced this, then you will know what we mean.

As is typical, there was plenty of laughter, the occasional tear, and incessantly nodding heads as the Traveler revealed the truth and the teachings of Soul Transcendence.

The meeting ended after two very fast hours of sharing, with John inviting us to chant once again and let our music be the sound to which the Travelers made their way from the room.

Two things stood out from this meeting: 1. John Morton can be one heavyweight Light, funny guy, and 2. John Roger is the Timex of Travelers; he takes a lickin’ and just keeps on tickin’ and tickin’ and tickin’.

Come to next year’s Conference and see if J-R & John can top themselves.
