Heartfelt’s Thanksgiving Projects, 2007

Article imagePatti Rayner of Heartfelt shares about LA:
While there was no “formal” Thanksgiving service project, we were able through the good grace of many generous hearts (Jodi Improta/WhitneyHigh School, Lynn Dickinson/SMASH schools, Pam Douglas, Karen Cicero/Regis Possino, Kathy Grant/Lightstorm Entertainment, Naila Rahemtulla/GKK Works) to give away enough food baskets and gift cards for 135 families to have a great Thanksgiving! We are grateful for the wonderful Heartfelt friends that make our service and outreach possible. May they be greatly blessed.

Steven Terry of Heartfelt Austin, TX writes:
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Heartfelt Austin sponsored a lovely Thanksgiving Luncheon for the Hospice Austin’s – Christopher House. For the past 27 years Hospice Austin has served thousands of terminally ill and bereaved persons in the community with integrity, compassion and respect.

Seven MSIA ministers brought their loving, light, open hearts and of course delicious food, and served lunch to the families of the residents. They were: Hesperia Blackburn, Jennifer Miller, Marti Miller, Don Durrant, Lynn Cochran, Katie Laine and Steven Terry.

After calling in the Light, the seven of us gracefully got into one accord and laid out a smorgasbord that included sandwiches, cheeses with crackers, a rather splendid Cream of Tomato Soup, pecan and apple pies and Pellegrino water with lemon. The eating tables were covered with festive table covers, napkins and with sprinkles.

The director of the Hospice shared that it was not common for the families of the residents to sit down and eat with the volunteers that bring food, as they usually take it back to the rooms right away. She said that it must have been us!!!

Several of the “Heartfelters” write of their experience:

“Thank you to all of you who contributed to this event. I really enjoyed myself and was touched by the gratitude shown by the families of the patients and the staff of Christopher House Hospice.”

“I can’t say enough about how grateful I feel to have had this experience with all of you. That is the best I have felt in a very long time. What a joy to serve with you!!!”
