We Have a Wonderful Thing Going with the Traveler

John Morton and Leigh Taylor-Young Morton came to visit Tucson a few weeks ago. Tucson is a wonderful city in southern Arizona. Affectionately known as the Old Pueblo. A term that sometimes comes to mind for me when I look in the mirror in the morning. ‘Good morning, Old Pueblo’. Has a nice ring to it.

Tucson is in the midst of the Sonoran Desert. The only desert in the World that has the luxury of two rainy seasons. It is filled with saguaros (the g is pronounced as a w if you want to be, you know, in the know). The saguaro is unique to this part of the World and a precious symbol of patient peace as they (very) slowly grow in peace for literally a couple hundred years – if left to do so. And yes, it is a cactus, so hug from a distance unless you’re a cactus wren and you’ve made the saguaro your high-rise home.

Traveler John was invited to talk at the home of Don and Donna Cook. They live just East of the Catalinas and opened up their home to us ‘graduate’ students – and five ‘newcomers’ to come and share our hearts in the grace of the Traveler and the songs of Daniel and Matt. And of course, the expertise of Roger Wakefield, the ‘sound’ guy. It’s so amazing isn’t it how Roger always manages to turn an alcove or semi hallway into a sound studio filled with computer screens and dials. And cords. Man, the cords. I’d love to see Roger get a part in a spy thriller when the good guys have to figure out which cord to cut in order to save, you know, the other good guys. ‘Which one Roger! Red to green? Blue to black?’

John, of course, blessed us all with the purity of bringing the love of God into words that dance in the melody of the essence of Spirit (did I write that?). Thank you, John.

After the seminar John took time to clear and then came back inside to ‘be’ with us awhile. Standing in the Cook’s kitchen (hey, Cook’s kitchen. Hmm.) and chatting with the Traveler and Beloved Leigh was well, you know. Cool.

JSU made his rounds taking selfies with us down home folks. I was okay with that since I was in a couple of shots. It was a cocktail party with, wait for it, Spirit in our drinks.

I was in a wonderful state of cognitive dissonance when I was rudely awakened by someone telling me I had to move my car because it was blocking someone else’s car. Gotta love the physical.

I know I love all of you. We have a wonderful thing going with the Traveler, don’t we? And we have a wonderful thing going with the amazing volunteers that showed up for both Prescott and Tucson seminars. From chairs (hey, I took mine to the garage) to camera (Steve Fogel in Prescott and Joyce Evans in Tucson) to all you other guys, the job got done and the Light shines bright 🙂 .

I wish for all of us to have a future full of the love we got to experience on that gorgeous fall night in the high desert at the Cook’s, and the cool pines of Prescott at Joannie and Frankie’s, – with the Traveler – and each other.

God Bless

Dave Wright
