“There is an adventure here that is not going to go away. No one can control their life in this world. Just make room that you will have adventures. Then do something in which you learn how to handle your life well.” – John Morton
This article comes from a John Morton Question & Answer Fundraising Seminar that took place in April 2024.
What about discouragement? Why might it be intensifying in some way? It is whatever you have been through that would be disappointing. You say, “I don’t like this. This is not what I wanted.” Maybe it’s even, “That’s discouraging and sometimes I do it again or make it even worse!” That is even more discouraging.
Somewhere in there is courage. It’s in the word. Just take out the “dis” and what would that be? Courage. If you disrespect yourself, you are discouraged. You take your courage off where it really belongs and with what would help you and be in your best interests.
There is something about that in the world that is mysterious. We have something, but we think, “I don’t know how it’s going to work. Should I hang back and wait?” That is part of what happens. That can become a default.
Another word – default. Do you want more fault? Waiting and holding back can become something “off”. That is discouraging. You may say, “I was trying to learn what I needed to know.” But at some point, you just get in and go have the experience. You learn.
You are on a spiritual adventure. The Holy Spirit has a job. It is going to show you the truth. For a while it may be like riding a bucking bronco. You keep getting thrown off every time you try to ride and live the truth. You may say, “It bucks the hell out of my life.” If you learn how to stay on, you could get really good at it. That horse might be an amazing vehicle to go where there are the kinds of experiences you need.
There is enough in every experience that we can realize, “I’m doing things to myself that make it disappointing.” Clear out the expectations you have about your life. There is still room for inspiration. You can be inspired and have your dreams and visions. Just make sure those are tied to your spiritual heart.
I am saying that deliberately. There is something like an emotional heart where people say, “My feelings were hurt.” Those are your emotions. Your spiritual heart doesn’t ever get hurt. If you say your spiritual heart is broken, it’s not. That is your emotional heart.
You are becoming stronger. The reason you are getting stronger is that you are more capable. Capability can be taken into the negative. If someone becomes very powerful in negative ways, I would say they are wasting their power. Get on to how that power could do beautiful things that help others but help you as much or more. It works like that. When you are helped as you help others, it’s a beautiful life!
One of Traveler’s jobs is releasing what needs to be released. That is in negative forms. It is regret or things we do habitually. You may say, “That’s just my dumb self, doing more dumb stuff.”
Bodies come with a dumb self. It’s issued at the factory. Then, it’s about, “Wake up! Smarten up! Watch what you are doing!” See if you can find the motivating purpose. Maybe you want a better life, but don’t know how that is going to work. You may say, “I don’t know if I should take this job or move to another city.” Life is like that at times.
Going after what you want more of does not always match up with what is familiar. But there is a part of you that does know what we are directly connected with. It is alive. It is a living consciousness. Let’s call it your God Consciousness.
As you become more capable, you become stronger. There is another quality that comes with clearing. You have more clarity. My experience of clarity is a knowing that comes in that is confident. There is a confidence that has calm.
When we don’t know, we are like, “What if it’s this? What if that happens? I don’t know. I’m not sure.” When you know, it calms. It is solid. If something outside you says, “I don’t think you are so smart. I think that’s stupid,” that is a God of opinion. They are around. Some of them are inside.
Sometimes we grow up in an atmosphere or environment where we’re programmed and conditioned to doubt ourselves and be afraid of life. It’s okay. You are coming onto something that is going to release your clarity. That is clear sight. You see more and more so you understand. You realize, “I don’t do that. I used to, but I don’t even remember or relate to that self anymore. I have confidence now.”
How do I get confident? I start trusting myself. And I start being more true to myself. Those two go together. Being truthful can take your strength, courage, and wisdom all at once. It leads to a greater knowing of who you are. It is clear so that you are not in things like, “I don’t know. I’m doubtful, insecure, hesitating, pulled back and afraid.” There is so much less of that.
You realize more and more that the truth is within you. This is a world where you check it out. That can be awkward. There is an adventure here that is not going to go away. No one can control their life in this world. Just make room that you will have adventures. Then do something in which you learn how to handle your life well. If you make mistakes, don’t repeat them. Learn by asking, “What did I do that I can do better?”
Life can be peculiar at times. I call it the “Big Hand”. What would God do to your life so what you need to experience will come to you? That is going to happen. The Traveler Consciousness is on that. Let’s do the experiences that deliver the greatest learning and the most becoming of who you are. Let’s do it in this lifetime. That is where you are.
God bless you.

It’s a Beautiful Day
Dear Lord, we welcome Your presence this day.
We know that it is always this day
in the eternal presence of who You are and what You are.
So again we find ourself in Your radiant light,
Your unconditional loving,
in the consciousness that is the living truth
that transcends all forms of negativity.
In our wisdom we can see all negativity comes from nothing,
no thing, no substance, no disturbance.
It is cleared, it is transmuted.
In soul consciousness there is no record.
It is gone, it is gone in such a way it never was, always and forever.
And Your blessings come present.
In our breathing in and breathing out, we receive this anointing.
We come to You openly, we present our heart to You openly
and trust that whatever You bring forward,
we can fully embrace in all the ways that are good.
And You reveal it is always good.
We take a moment to look at whatever is present in these blessings.
This is a personal process for each one.
In worship we can do this together, that You call us forward in this presence.
As we do this together and in cooperation, in fellowship,
we are in the oneness of who You are.
You present to us peace and understanding
that all can be restored into what it is.
And we have a conscience that rises above what it is not.
And whatever are the conditions
for that critic, for whatever is in the conditions
in Your silence, You are always present with us.
You are teaching us to let go,
to relax, to be at ease no matter what.
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.Baruch Bashan
