Gifts of the Spirit

Article imageMaybe it’s a little early in the holiday season, but that didn’t stop John Morton from delivering an abundance of spiritual gems to a packed room at 2101 Wilshire in Santa Monica on the evening of December 5.

The room was filled with chairs, and when the evening started every chair was filled. More chairs were set up and in moments they were filled. That process was repeated several times until the large Brentwood Ballroom was filled with over 250 people.

Graceful Mistress of Ceremonies, Timothea Stewart, opened the evening and Tony Selvage brought in the Spirit with an amazing electronic violin composition, which at intervals had the sound of a whale’s song. Tony received a standing ovation.

John started with his own remarks, then turned to the audience — many getting their first experience of him — for questions. Among the points John made were:

Everything in this world has a positive and a negative. The negativity of love is the attempt to deny love.

Sleep is an inner journey. In sleep our consciousness is taken to other realms and we bring back the experience… whether we remember or not.

We seek in the world. We find in the Spirit.

John was asked about how he knew he was ready to write his book, “The Blessings Already Are,” and he related his inner and outer experience of that. Then, as if it was set up in advance (although we know it wasn’t — at least not in the physical level) a first-time guest asked how to get more of these teachings. That opened up the way for John to discuss Soul Awareness Discourses, home seminars, Peace Theological Seminary, and share his unique perspective on their value.

After the formal seminar John came back to sign books and chat informally with the audience, which always seems to be immensely enjoyed. What a lovely way to move into the Spirit of the holiday.
