The Conference of Momentum: Letting Love Lead closed out its annual week of events with an information-packed and heartfelt meeting of MSIA’s initiates on Sunday afternoon, July 6th.
Master of Ceremonies, Phil Danza, opened the session by introducing Claire Donnelley Morton (daughter of John Morton and Laura Donnelley-Morton) and Eric Albrecht, who sang “Let’s Go Down to the River and Pray.” They received a standing ovation!
Our beloved John-Roger, Founder and Spiritual Advisor of MSIA, discussed ways of growing in Spirit, dealing with the magnetic light and avoiding pitfalls along the way. He gave many examples from his own experience, often quite funny and endearing. John-Roger spoke for over an hour and fifteen minutes and then asked John Morton, MSIA’s Spiritual Director and our Traveler, to come up and continue the seminar.
John simply commented on what J-R had already shared, and did it in such a way that the entire audience was laughing uncontrollably. John concluded with “Baruch Bashan” but that did not conclude the meeting. John said he had a “surprise” for us all.
John then made a tribute to John-Roger in the form of a song. John sang “Carrying A Torch” and was musically accompanied by Barbara Wieland on piano and Marjorie Eaton on the harp. John began singing this to J-R: “I am carrying a torch for you. Keep on lifting me up, higher and higher. You are the keeper of the flame. J-R keeps on moving higher and higher. You must know how much it’s worth, when I am carrying the torch. Let’s keep on lifting higher and higher, moving into the Light. I’m carrying the torch for you, J-R, and I’m carrying the torch for you initiates.”
John’s song ended with an embrace of J-R by John, and much hugging. There were tears from John and many others in the room. The audience was still on their feet, clapping and cheering as John and John-Roger left the ballroom at the conclusion of John’s song.
The meeting ended with the initiates chanting the Ani Hu — Hu being an ancient name of God and Ani adding empathy. It was a truly glorious meeting.
