“Oh Holy Night” — Christmas Eve With The Travelers

It’s about 2:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and excitement is electrifying the air with joyful hearts, holiday cheer and the sound of Carols being sung by a choir bellowing through the beautifully and festively decorated landscape of the 2101 building in Santa Monica, California. We are all ready for the MSIA Christmas Eve Seminar with John-Roger and John Morton.

We hear the heavenly trumpets sound as we gleefully enter the Brentwood Ballroom, and are escorted by happy volunteers wishing us season’s greetings, and showing us to our seats. At 3:00 p.m. we all come into a quiet as we are called into our hearts of love by enchanting music performed by Claire Smith-Roose on the flute and Aaron Roose on the oboe, joined by William Hanrahan singing a piece written by MSIA’s own David Stern entitled “Little Lamb.” They were accompanied by Val Kampmeier on the keyboards. For me it was like a Christmas lullaby gently touching each one of us. For a moment I imagined myself being in another city, state, or country via the Internet hearing this musical invitation and how welcomed I would feel tuning in.

We were next embraced by one of our MSIA families as our hosts for the event — Mark Lurie, Julie Marvis, and Julie’s children Sophia, Tasha & Gabe Marvis. Nine year old Gabe called us all forward into the Light. I experienced such a presence come over me as this young man prayed. It was that of “be still, and know I am the Lord.”

In this still and sacred place was the divine and free energy of laughter, cries, and shouts of our younger children delighting in the Traveler’s presence. The older children did a presentation from the children’s ministry. Kaelee Boussarie and Chace Beech read blessings written by the children of MSIA that were hung as ornaments on the children’s Christmas Tree on stage in the Brentwood Room.
As a hushed and still quiet brought us into a state of peace awareness and a place prepared to listen, Julie Marvis introduced our beloved Traveler John-Roger and we were on our way toward an inner journey of heaven. J-R spoke about some of the foundational teachings of MSIA:

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others
Don’t hurt yourself and don’t hurt others
Use everything for your advancement, learning and growth
He also added, health, wealth, happiness, abundance, prosperity, riches, loving, caring and sharing. The Holy Spirit was so palpable. It felt as though we indeed had been transported to a very divine and sacred place.
John-Roger then introduced our Traveler John Morton and we all stood in welcome. John started his portion of the evening by reading us a story that touched us deeply, and reminded us that we are not alone. God is listening and watching us, and that it is a good thing to ask for help.

John went on to speak about grace and about giving, receiving, forgiving, and sharing. I was reminded of what Jesus said when speaking to the multitudes: lift up your hearts and be glad for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Your father in heaven knows your needs before you can ask.
If I didn’t know what heaven on earth meant before, I do now. And, I opened my heart as wide as I could so that both of our beloved Travelers could make themselves right at home.

After John had finished, we enjoyed a song and dance by Sophia, Gabe, and Tasha. It was a real crowd pleaser. And, then these three marvelous Marvis children sang a Christmas Carol that completed our Christmas Eve event. And, as John Morton said at the end of his sharing, “a good time was had by all.” As the program concluded we were invited to partake in fellowship and refreshments.
Hallelujah we sing! Rejoice and be glad ! The Angels have touched to the Earth this Holy Night of Nights, when the Christ was born, and we were born into The Spiritual Promise.
