We had a first on Friday evening, October 1 up in Goleta, just north of Santa Barbara, California. We had a four author book event and signing at the Goleta Borders Books and Music store. John-Roger, John Morton, Paul Kaye and Pauli Sanderson brought their unique perspectives to play during the evening.

If you can picture a beautiful multi-petaled lotus flower unfolding into an exquisite layering of blossoms on a still green pad in a peaceful pool of water with little Koi fish joyfully darting around, you may get a sense of this evening. After each author presented a taste of their featured book (When Are You Coming Home?, Momentum: Letting Love Lead, and The Blessings Already Are), John-Roger played moderator and with gusto would call out who would answer the questions from amongst his august panel — John, Pauli and Paul. With delight J-R announced that he would monitor the answers and of course, we enjoyed all the more watching and listening to John, Pauli and Paul rise to and beyond the questions that were put to them.

I’ve been to many, many of our bookstore events and this one was like the crown jewel — very rich and faceted. The crowd who attended seemed very present and cheering of each author. There was a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere. The NOW crew members: Greg Fritz, Deborah Martinez, Arissa Bright, Roger Wakefield, artfully created the sound and video so that the authors’ voices were enhanced unobtrusively and seamlessly. Phil & Brooke Danza were on hand shooting video. Kay Turbak, Ellie Gant, Cleora Daily, Angela Bell, and Timothea Stewart assisted in keeping the practical part of the evening flowing smoothly by greeting the guests, passing out post-its, arranging chairs. Sue Zussman, the Borders regional event coordinator, and our friend, had paved the way with her fellow employees at the store so that they were in a joyful, willing to help space the moment we arrived. And of course, all of us were delighted to see over 120 books of the Travelers be purchased and signed.

A number of people made the journey from Los Angeles just to be there for the evening, and later told me how worth the trip it was. Anytime we have a chance to be with the Travelers physically it is a blessing and we were doubly blessed and then some. Thank you to John-Roger and John Morton for personally supporting this event, to Paul and Pauli for being yourselves, and to all who came to be with us.

There is always more with Travelers. Please come be with us on Saturday, November 20, when John-Roger and Paul Kaye will launch their new book, What’s It Like Being You? Living Life as Your True Self, at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at the Grove in Los Angeles at 3:00 p.m. Have teatime with us (coffee/tea and goodies) while you listen to J-R and Paul present to you kernels and boulders of wisdoms in this superb book. Come early to get a seat — this is a very popular and joy-filled event.
